well it would not completely unwind, but you would loose tension. It also depends on how many twist you have in it, how long the rope is and how many twists you can actually get into it. Eventually the last few twists in it will over twist on the first twists in the rope (does that make sense to you?)

Yes, but I've never been able to recreate it in many tries with the same cord. It doesn't stay put.
