It seems like I read that Patsy had bought a package for a cousin. They may have been too small for the cousin, or she just never got around to giving them to her, but they ended up with JonBenet's stuff. Patsy might not have meant for her to wear them yet, but kept them for her to grow into and JonBenet grabbed them to put on.

has anyone thought the large panties were purchased that was because maybe she wore them over her pull-ups? (when she wore the pull-up?) - maybe she just grabbed a pair of bigger panties when she got up in the middle of the night after wetting her bed and self. She probably didn't originally have on pull-ups that night.

Rte66 seems to know more about this than I do but my understanding is that there was a fresh package of new underwear that PR intended to give to her niece (she bought it a Bloomingdales in NY in Nov). They were size 12 and JBR was size 4 to 6. JBR's drawer was full of underwear in the 4 - 6 size range. The only underwear larger than that were the size 12 underwear, which was also in her drawer (or whatever she kept them in) in a package of 7; I think.

The package of new underwear was traced and was, according to PR, brand new and sealed. A strong plastic clasp held a zipper closed on the package. Either a very strong person opened it by hand or someone opened it with scissors or knife. The kitchen knife WAS found on the washing machine right outside her bedroom.

That's a fascinating possibility. If he has that and it can be positively ID'ed as such; then we've got a 'winner'.

what was Patsy's statement to the police regarding how that package was opened, and why she was wearing them?

This is a possibility. The killer grabbed that pair from the drawer, and put them on JonBenet. He kept JonBenet's as a trophy. That would fit with the way the body was cleaned up and covered. The killer did not wish to leave her in disarray.

I think we should all get drunk and see if it helps us think outside the box in figuring out how the evidence fits together. The most creative post wins!

Well, heck. That's easy.

John Mark Karr is actually a phantom fairy figure who can transport himself from Alabama to Boulder in a matter of minutes. He transports himself inside the Ramsey basement, waits for the family to return, enters JonBenet's room and proclaims himself one of Santa's elves. He then takes her to his own private world where they become fast friends, possibly lovers.

But tragedy strikes when Karr tries to bring JonBenet back to the real world. An accident happens. She's dead. Karr hides her in the basement until he figures out what to do next.

Since John has the ability to make himself invisible, he's unafraid to stay in the home as long as he wishes so he finds a pen and a notepad and begins writing a note. But then he gets an idea.

He hypnotizes Patsy into writing the ransom note while hypnotizing John into converting the wine cellar into a murder scene. He tells John to fashion the garotte and tells Patsy to leave the ransom note on the foot of the winding staircase.

Karr then returns the parents to bed, flits back to Alabama so he won't be missed at home then snaps his fingers to wake John and Patsy from their hypnotic trance. The rest is history.

Karr's guilty conscience eats at him and he leaves little clues hoping somebody will put them all together. He flies back from Thailand on a commercial jet simply to amuse his captors.

.

Okay. What do I win?

Her responses were evasive and ambiguous. You can read it on the forumforjustice link I posted. I think she really had no idea who opened it, or how it was opened, and she couldn't explain it. Just like the pineapple.

This is horrible, but when I was doing research on other crimes yesterday I found other cases in which the perp kept underwear as a trophy.

I think that either:
Pasty
Burke
or an intruder

put them on her. So, yea, I can see the trophy aspect to it.

I do think the underwear is odd. I can't see the mother goofing that up. Only an intruder or other child could do that.

Let me re-phrase that:

OK, let's see. The Bloomies. *cracking my knuckles here, for extreme memory-yanking and typing at the same time*

JonBenet was found in panties that were way too big for her. They were flowered panties called "Bloomies" from Bloomingdale's and they came in little plastic reusable zippered "tote" packages of 7, with the days of the week on them, written in script on the waistbands.

Patsy and JonBenet and some of Patsy's friends had gone Christmas shopping sometime in November in New York City. They went to FAO Schwarz, of course. They went to Bloomingdale's and I'm not sure where else. It's hard to remember - I *think* this was the trip when a chauffeur named Raoul took them all around to the stores.

Anyway, either Patsy bought the packages of Bloomies for JonBenet or JonBenet specifically asked for them while eyeing the display. Then one or the other of them suggested they'd make a cute NYC Xmas present for JonBenet's cousin in Atlanta, the daughter of Patsy's sister Polly and her husband Grant. (Can't think of the little girl's name.)

So, at least two packages of different sized Bloomies were bought. The cousin was considerably older than JonBenet with a larger Bloomies-appropriate body part. (Evidently, a bigger butt. I guess she's an adult now and I can say that!)

When they got them home, the cousin's package was put away for Christmas wrapping later (presumably in the basement where all the FAO presents were stored, too).

JonBenet and Patsy argued the afternoon of Christmas Day, about what JBR was going to wear to the Whites' party. Patsy wanted her to wear an almost-twin outfit to her own - black velvet jeans/pants, a red sweater and/or Christmas-y vest.

(I'm going to continue onto another post so I don't lose this, because I'm up and down, AFK ...)

highly probable - a lot of pedophiles start out that way - stealing little girl panties from apartment complex wash rooms, etc... Even man rapist stalkers do the same thing to their victims before they strike.

I think you're right. One thing that makes me feel that Patsy is innocent is that she didn't change her story to fit these things in.

We are watching North Mission Road, and they just showed a suspect changing his story to explain some evidence. Now the detectives are suspicious. Funny that their talking about it while I'm writing about something similar.
