For your bookmarking assistance, this is a reference list of links to the Aug 2006 or newer Free Republic threads on the topic of the JonBenet Ramsey murder case and the possible arrest of John Mark Karr as a suspect in her murder.
and the parents of the child bride said this AM on national tv that Karr signed letters to the girl with the SBTC signature......that is their words....
so now we have two example of Karr writing that .......at least two testimonials to it.....
$118,000 ?????.....even John Ramseiy alludes to the fact that he leaves his checkbook stubs on the desk on the main floor, and that sum of money was on one of those stubs.....
If Karr left Georgia in the late afternoon ( his family says that he WAS there with them for Christmas of 1996 ), he would never have reached Colorado in time to find the Ramsey house, break in, roam around the house, find paper and pen, write a draft and then the ransom note, hide, listen to Pat Ramsey read Jonbenet a bedtime story, kill and then hide Jonbenet in a room not easily found to someone who didn't know it was there. The time-line is all off; considering that the Ramseys were back inside the house by 10:00PM or so.
I still say that Karr is just a wannabe. Look at the lies he's told.
They *did* search the house. There's more to that story. For one thing, the initial patrol officer who went down to the basement tried to open that door and couldn't budge it.
The natural assumption in that situation is to assume the door is locked from the inside. He asked someone about it and was told it was painted shut. That came originally from a family member, but I don't know which one.
It wasn't - it had a block of wood that was used to keep it shut - the door was warped and tended to come open on its own. Christmas things were kept in there and some of the children's gifts were hidden in there. JonBenet was scared of the room and parts of the basement, so it was a good place to hide things from the kids.
So, to lock the door and just keep it shut, the block of wood was nailed above the door jamb and could be swiveled down to hold the door shut. It was perfect to keep kids out when they were small, because they couldn't reach it. John R said it was loose and would fall down on its own, without anyone using it as a lock.
I don't quite believe that. I know it happens, but he was trying to say that if an intruder left JonBenet and hurried out, the woodblock lock might have just fastened itself on its own. To me, if the door were warped, I would think the block would have to kind of be forced down, to purposely lock it.
There was also an out-of-place chair down there, in front of the door of the train room, which shared a wall with the wine cellar, but had to be entered by going down a short hall and around a corner. The chair didn't belong there, but I don't know where it came from.
I wondered if the kids, namely Burke, being older and perhaps more curious, hadn't put it down there to get up and unlock the door to the wine cellar to see if any presents were hidden in there.
I always felt that wine cellar door was "locked" on purpose that night. In case anyone was exploring.
The patrol cop who missed finding JonBenet has cried and cried about it ever since. He honestly believed them when they said it was painted shut.
John R also discouraged Fleet White (the parent of Fleet, the little boy) when they went to the basement to look around, per Det. Arndt's orders, given as busywork to keep the antsy men's minds occupied while waiting for the ransom call that never came, from opening *that* door.
He did, anyway, but is very tall (easier for him to notice the above-door latch and undo it) and it was very dark, "Stygian" as Steve Thomas noted, and he never looked down on the floor or noticed the white blanket wrapping up JonBenet. He has always said he couldn't explain how he missed her.
It wasn't a checkbook stub. It was allegedly a paycheck stub.
people MISS information all the time.....look at yourself.....the parents of the first wife were on national TV this morning and you didn't know a thing about it......
the claims made about picking JB up from school plus a few other details were misinterpreted by the Thai officials and have been rebuked.....that was in the news probably two days ago...
Absolutely NONE of that is true!
The Christmas party was on Dec. 23, 1996, he wasn't at it, his brother didn't work for John Ramsey, and his brother didn't go to the party. And unless his family is lying, it is also a fact that he wasn't in Colorado on December 23rd.
Do you believe what everyone says, who appears on T.V.?
This entire case, from the beginning till now, has been mishandled. I doubt that it will ever be solved.
OK, "ransom note as term paper". He did this in the kitchen, where the paper and pens were kept? The kitchen with the window looking out towards the neighbors' house?
I honestly don't know where he composed a copy of it inside the house. Could he have sat on the floor out view of the kitchen window?
I just think that the ransom note could be a ruse and that he may have thought it out beforehand, wrote it down on his own paper, put that paper in his pocket and then copied from it on to a pad of paper in the house. Maybe there was enough moonlight that night coming into the window that he did not need a artifical light source.
All this instead of sitting there in the house trying to think it all up and then write it down.
There was a full moon that night, but scattered clouds started coming in around 10:14 PM, then it was completely overcast by 11:30PM.
However, if he did it between 5PM and 10PM, as he said he did, it was clear outside and had been dark since around 6:30P. Wait, that sunset doesn't sound right. The almanac says l:50A UTC which is 7 hours ahead of MST. I don't think that's correct, but I'm not a meteorologist.
It would have been dark or almost dark by 5pm - In the dead of winter here in IL it is dark by about 4:30pm that time of year.
I don't know about street lights or if one would have shined into the kitchen window also.
Point is he could have brought a general rough draft with him and copied it down inside the house on their paper.
(hell his rough draft copy from his pocket may have been 5 pages for all we know if one was used)
I am going to bed... thanks again for everything.
That rough draft he was copying from may have started with Mr and Mrs Ramsey but decide to scratch that once he was in the house.
Most likely you've gotten the word from more than one smart and curious FReeper that the great Cary Grant did not ever say "Judy, Judy, Judy ...... but John Lennon said:
Mama don't go, Daddy come home.
Mama don't go, Daddy come home.
Mama don't go, Daddy come home.

In some writings, Karr spoke of JonBonet's murderer as someone who was unknown, but also as someone he was "very interested in and curious about," the statement said. It did not specify where the writings were found.
"In a few instances while he seemed to be wondering about the JonBenet Ramsey murder, he made uncertain allusions to placing himself in the killer's role," it said.
The Sonoma department also noted Karr made references to two other crimes in two different states, including a child killing and a child molestation. Information about Karr was provided in 2001 to the investigating agencies in all those states, including Colorado, the department said.
Ultimately, Karr was charged with possession of child pornography. He fled and an arrest warrant was issued, but authorities said they were unable to locate him. The department said a warrant will be served in the pornography case after Karr's matters in Colorado are resolved.

Anyone with medical knowledge want to comment on the following?
John Ramsey found his daughter and rushed her upstairs, right? From everything I've read, he was pretty much out of his mind in a panic.
She had been dead a while, right?
Is it possible that he accidentally whacked her head against something in his rush to bring her upstairs? Or something happened prior to that when he pulled the tape off her mouth and tried to untie the cords? Maybe her head hit the floor or something? He was out of his mind with horror at finding his dead daughter and likely would not have noticed if his own hair was on fire at that moment.
Would being dead a while compromise the strength of bones, like a skull?
If not, how much force would be needed to cause those injuries to her skull?
I realize that such a scenario is unlikely but I am curious as to how the strength of the bones might change after death. I'm also trying to understand why she was strangled and then had her head cracked open. It doesn't make sense.
Skull and Brain: Upon reflection of the scalp there is found to be an extensive area of scalp hemorrhage along the right temporoparietal area extending from the orbital ridge, posteriorly all the way to the occipital area. This encompasses an area measuring approximately 7 x 4 inches. This grossly appears to be fresh hemorrhage with no evidence of organization...
