He/She is confusing Hal with Harold Camping, self proclaimed theological genius (with zero theological training). Hhe set a date in the 80's. When nothing occurred he decided he still was right, the world was wrong, and went off to lead a cult where he only holds devine knowledge. Probably has about 20 koolaid drinking followers.
In The Late Great Planet Earth
Lindsey wrote that the Apocalypse would come within the generation of the founding of Israel and he said that a generation is "something like forty years."
A normal person reading the book would take that as a prediction that in or around the year 1988 the Apocalypse would occur.
Any Christian that knows Bible Doctrine, especially Revelations, knows that the world will never end.
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." - Matthew 24:35.
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." - 2 Peter 3:10
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." Revelations 21:1.
To the contrary, anyone who actually reads the Bible instead of reading screeds by Hal Lindsey, knows that the world will end.
BTW, are you saying that you read Greek and Hebrew?
