"One of the insinuations that has been made at times is the possible link between organized prostitution and the Durham PD."
Does someone want to send this to the FBI as part of the evidence of possible corruption in Durham?
If enough people complain, they may finally have to start a file, if only to be able to answer the accusation that they are not doing anything at all in the face of flagrant public corruption. (And maybe we can start a stampede of potential witnesses to their office, if the DPD get an inkling there may be an investigation starting.) "We know you know."

Durham PD Launches Internal Probe In Alleged Bar Assault
POSTED: 1:18 pm EDT July 22, 2006
UPDATED: 2:25 pm EDT July 23, 2006
DURHAM, N.C. -- The Durham Police Department has launched an internal investigation into an alleged assault involving six off-duty Durham police officers outside a Raleigh bar.
The names of the officers involved in the alleged attack have not been released and it was not immediately clear if any of them had been disciplined. Two investigators, however, in the Duke lacrosse rape case -- Sgt. Mark Gottlieb and R.D. Clayton -- were temporarily placed on administrative duty on Friday, according to Durham City Manager Patrick Baker.

The 29-year-old alleged victim told WRAL that racial slurs were exchanged in the bar's parking lot before a group of men surrounded him.
"I turned to my left and there's a big guy --probably about 5'10", at least 250 pounds," he said. "He takes off his shirt and rushes me."

Good Lord
Patrick Baker is making statements for the DPD again.
refresh my memory. who he?
n/m. found it...
Why would anyone want Durham Police to investigate anything? I think Raleigh PD needs to step up to the plate here but who knows.
Unfortunately, in our society - the big news about this reported assault in the Raleigh bar were the RACIAL SLURS, someone at the N&O adeptly recognized that and it never made it to the print editions. No one (in the big picture) is aware of the reported racial aspect of the case.
Go back and read my posts, I predicted that Friday and Friday Night - Nifong was on the phone lobbying.
Nifong understands the racial part of that case is the bomb - and he was, IMO, working channels to keep it out of the papers. I would be willing to bet a small fortune that Nifong has spoken extensively with the Wake D.A. about this case and made his arguments. District Attorneys are an exclusive group and they speak frequently.
I think both Durham and Raleigh are investigating. Both will come up empty, IMHO, unless pressured by the MSM. That won't happen either.
(Welcome to FR!)
In reference to Bob Ashley of the Durham Herald-Sun; AGAIN they want to make out that MSNBC has NOT reviewed the entire file. If there is something else out there - Nifong is breaking the law.
If the Durham Herald knows of something that would benefit the poor black Mother-Ex-con-stripper-prostitute - SURELY they would have printed it already.
Balderdash !
Enterprise,
Of course we agree. The media knows what buttons to push and they believe they can make or break a story. The Media is really downplaying the story and ignoring the racial aspect.
If 3 Durham Police Officers drop a black cook in a parking lot while calling him the N-word - and no one hears it - did it really happen?
According to Nifong if the cook can ID ANYONE - then the case must go before a JURY. Nifong himself has made that statement several times on National Television.
There are so many ironies in this! It's as if the wheel of justice suddenly sped up to catch up with certain people.
The place is a hang out for off-duty Cops and regular patrons.
The guys were off-duty, they have no jurisdiction.
If he yelled - A-hole! - That doesn't give them the right to surround him and assault him.
The Durham guys were driving crazy in a Parking lot, leaving a bar late at night. I think Alcohol was involved! How could it not. So, the Durham guys are driving under the influence.
You have to know that if these guys were there for an investigation - the City Mgr, the Durham Police spokesperson, and the FOP lawyer would have already stated that they were there on official business conducting an investigation. Can they call people the N-word in carrying out their assigned duties?
The N&O has a dog in the fight because they have staked out a public position that the DUke Lax are out of control, arrogant, and lawless.
The N&O should have done just like WRAL and reported what the alleged victim said. The N&O is NOT saying the investigators used Racial slurs - they are only reporting quotes from the alleged victim. Didn't they print Crystal's version of events and include quotes from her ?
This is a cover-up in the works. If Nifong is following North Carolina Law - then when someone claims to be a victim and ID's someone - than there should be a trial and a Jury should decide what happened - Plain and Simple.
Why shouldn't these Durham detectives be subjected to the same type of justice that they dispense - and have for years!
I found a site where a local escort service actually thanks Duke(sarcastically)for having to close their business.
http://raleigh.pleasureryde.com/
There is one person named Pleasure Ryde who is listed on several Escort Service sites - Pleasure Ryde Escort Services, Black Escorts, Charlotte Harlots, Charlotte Escorts,, All Executive Escorts,etc... Is Pleasure Ryde anyone involved in this case? I could swear I have seen these pictures related to AV somewhere.
Several of these Escort Services list the same phone number, no address. Someone is mad they had to move their operations or change their phone number. lol
How difficult is it going to be for this cook to ID the members of Durham's PD if only they are included in a line up?
I am sure he can manage to pick a few.

There were two photos posted supposedly of the AV ... "glamour shots," per se. Was is on JohninCarolina's blog?
Escort service had to close? Awwwwwwww. Too bad.
