OMG! Can't breathe.
You are a shoe in! They have a special place for you in their creative expression group. True, they have one.
Didn't I just read where she closed up shop in Durham and went to Charlotte? Oh, wrong one...
I forget which one, but one of the ADA's used to work for Wake County.
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Oh No!
Tell me you're lying ! This is like a Bad Movie!
Stay out of Durham Sue - you'll live longer.
Just a prudent decision really.
That is classic! You win the "Best Laugh of the Day" Award!
I just got in and I'm catching up, but does anyone still harbor any notions that Nifong will reconsider or someone will step in to see that Justice is done.
I'd be shocked if at least two of these kids don't get convicted - honestly.
Hold on a minute, I'll get the name.

Now, I may be wearing the Tin foil hat, BUT if Cheek would've stayed out - Monks would've been on the ballot - he would've gotten more support in the signature drive - AND
Nifong's Manager is the one that recruited Cheek to run - correct?
I don't know. In this case you can't be TOO suspicious.
Only two? Why not three?
LOL.

Durham County Gets New Gang Prosecutor
POSTED: 10:08 am EDT August 9, 2005
DURHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Durham County has a new gang prosecutor.
Stormy Ellis, who at one time worked for the Wake County District Attorney's Office, will now handle all gang-related cases......
.....
Monks could have gotten on the ballot if he did a better job.
He admitted he had a trial during his petition drive and that's the reason he didn't get enough signatures.
Think Duke Publishing will buy my poetry?
Quite possibly! You should send that to Rush Limbaugh.
Right now it comes down to jury pickin'
It's not bad. More, more...
Yep. There got to be some great choices in Durham. Sarcasm intended.
Why do I feel the tendency to think they're all corrupt !
I never used to be like this. The lines have blurred.
I don't know who wears the white hats anymore.
Suddenly, 40 acres in God's country is looking better and better. At least I think the community in that type of area may stand up and fight (legally) the authorities - speak up against this type of injustice. In NC, it's like business as usual - if it doesn't affect your paycheck or your weekend - who cares? That's largely the attitude, except for some diehards that are being cast as conspiracy theorists (conveniently).
It's like people don't know anything about the lessons from history. Sit around and do nothing - and soon it'll be your turn - and no one will get involved because it's not their problem.
"I'd be shocked if at least two of these kids don't get convicted - honestly."
And then we'll see how much the governor wants for a pardon. (Hey, they've sold pardons in Louisiana and
I think Kentucky. From what I've seen of NC, if the corruption spreads upwards, that may be the case there,
too.)
If they don't get convicted, it won't be because the justice system saved them. Something from outside will have to do it
(i.e., more Sgt. Gottlieb incidents, more DA porn sites,
Nifong caught in a porn shop; the AV getting religion and deciding to drop the deal, etc.)
But the judges and that magnificient (sarc/off) justice system we have is a failure.
The last defense in the justice system is supposed to be the jury, which is made up of one's peers (social equals and neighbors) who protect the accused from an overpowerful government or from biased attacks from another social class (i.e., in England, the nobility; but in our country, from another ethnic group).
Since we've destroyed the jury system by insisting that its make-up be of peers of the victim instead of peers of the defendant, the defendant now has no defense from the jury; in fact, a jury can be a positive disadvantage and only a help to the prosecution.
The very last thing I would now want were I accused of something is "my day in court".
Sad.
Worse than sad.
So this must never be allowed to get that far, if
possible.
How many of us remember Kitty Genovese?
Jury Picking
But Judges will be involved in that too - to some extent. Every single Judge that has ruled on these LAX players - has put the screws to them.
Has the AV gotten raw deals in court? Did anyone look into her prostitution activities or how she's made a living or how she managed to pay no taxes. How she lied to authorities about various things in this case - which is illegal?
How about Kim - the Justice System has been like protective big brother to her. 5 years, much of it on the lam, paying no taxes, ostensibly working under an assumed name and ignoring the courts previous order that mandated her conditions of parole - yet Nifong goes to bat for her repeatedly.
Contrast that with Finnerty's treatment? Banned from Georgetown, etc. and villified by the media.
I think these LAX players are just too UNFORGIVABLY WHITE!
That's why everything collapsed upon them and no one questioned any of the highly suspect events or accusations.
The News Media STILL hasn't reported the Fresno Football allegations of many players raping and assaulting an 11 year old! An 11 year old!
