Or was Cheek actually a shill helping Nifong by acing out the competition. Monks is a Republican which, from what I understand makes him something like the extinct Dodo bird in terms of Durham politics. So it would have been easy for Cheek, a well known Dem, to suck up the finite number of protest signatures against Nifong that were in play. Then Cheek sucker-punches them by deciding not to run. Quo bono? Nifong.

Interesting theory. I have always felt Cheek was on the same team with Bell, Baker, Clement, et al.

Listen up everyone...even though the phone number appears as Charlotte, there is such a thing as remote call forwarding, which allows calls to transfer back to Durham. My cookies on the computer read "raleigh.pleasureryde.com" and we all know that there are no geographical boundaries.

I do find it fascinating that they feel it was necessary to move to Charlotte (if in fact they really did!). Do any of you wonder if City Councilmen, Journalists, DA's Office employees or Durham City Police have any reason to worry?
