I'm not entirely sure that the term "highly trained" and "truck driver" belong in the same sentence. Take an eighteen wheeler through the University of Texas campus at 5 pm, back up to the loading dock at Jester Dorm, then get back to me.

Our Indian drivers have to come into a company and be paid exactly what the American drivers are being paid in that company. They have to receive every benefit and they have to be treated exactly the same. We want them to get the highest paid jobs they can get. How ya gonna save if they're paid the same, treated the same, same benefits?

My boyfriend has driven 29 years without an accident, can you say the same? He hauls oil thats 350 degrees with just a flimsy cab between him and it. He has driven log truck on roads most people wouldn't walk on. He does endless paperwork and works 16 hour days. Tell me how you are better than him? He has taught driving at a college. What college classes do you teach? Snobbery is so left wing.

Save the flag waving and applie pie nonsense and answer the question directly.Save it for who??? Someone who cares about the country???
Why should I and millions of other consumers want to pay higher prices so a few can benefit?
These truck drivers ARE the other consumers...It certainly can't be just the truck drivers that bug you...It has to be the people that built your house...And of course the people that built your car...And the guy that installed your telephone...And the cashier that checks you out at the store...
Man, all those people who make a decent wage, so maybe then, can buy whatever product/service you provide...If you could only cut THEIR wages to make life more comfortable for YOU...

Whats better for the US?
A US driver that earns 60,000 annually, or a foreign one earning 35,000 annually?
Which of the two will spend their pay here in the US?

Why should I and millions of other consumers want to pay higher prices so a few can benefit? These truck drivers ARE the other consumers.. They are a tiny percentage of consumers.
Man, all those people who make a decent wage
Sorry, most union workers get paid far in excess of what their actual skill merits. And yes, it's very UNAMERICAN to subsidize lazy, nonproductive workers. That's the commie system. So save the phony flag waving.

"There's a massive shortage of long-haul truck drivers in the U.S.," Gagan said. "Long-haul truck drivers get home four days a month. There just aren't enough Americans who want to do that kind of work."One remedy for that, is take your spouse or girlfriend with you. :)

I listen to news and talk on XM radio. The commercials they do have have a lot of ads looking for truck drivers. Based on that, and the estimated shortage cited in the article, it sounds like a reawonable way to get truck drivers to get the needed hauling done. Otherwise, it will show up in the economy more as slow and late deliveries at a slightly higher price.

Well, that might come as a surprise to the AISI (American Iron & Steel Institute).
Off the top of my head, just in my state: US Steel, Pennsylvania Steel, Bethlehem Steel, and High Steel to name a few.

I don't think truck drivers from India can speak English at all . This is a very bad idea because it will be hard for them to integrate with American society.

Outsourcing will only quicken the demise of the middle class And this demise can be seen in.........our higher incomes? Lower unemployment rate? Higher household wealth?

Yes, once again time to sell America down the Ganges. Why not just import some slaves to drive the trucks? This does not absolve the unions either though. If they were really concerned, they would be pushing to open up ANWR.
