I know this is a somewhat lighthearted thread, but I have a 15 year Alcoholic's Anonymous coin that I got from my father after he passed away. He spent the last 15 years of his life alcohol free, and volunteered in AA three nights a week.
What a marvelous, great man. I miss him so much. But of all the things he did in his life, kicking alcohol, after being an alcoholic since his teenage days (albeit a completely functional one)
So, that is my touchstone. Every day, as I put it in my pocket, I look at that coin and say to myself "One day at a time."
If it worked for him, it can work for me!
I forgot. Sometimes I stick those tiny bottles of whiskey in my fanny pack.
