Well I got the tax refund, it was double what I thought it would be! Adds a nice chunk of change to my bank account (goes to that little farm I'm saving up for!).

So I fly out Friday evening, still can't believe it's just a little 3 hour flight. The crappy lady I worked with managed to put on a tolerable act right up to the exact time to leave. We had finished everything, and I didn't want to just run out the door (well, I really did, but that's a different story!).

When we couldn't think of anything more to say, she was just starting to squint her eyes and look like she was about to mimic how wonderfully I would enjoy Thailand, and I just said, "Ok, bye" and grabbed my stuff, she dropped what she was about to say. I said goodbye to the receptionist but didn't even look back at the garbage bag lady.

I have truly had enough of their crap for one lifetime! So tomorrow I'll do the final touches (buy traveler's checks, pick up plane ticket) and then Friday morning jump the luxury bus (it has these almost LazyBoy sized seats, just 3 seats in each row!) (it only costs $7 bucks though, cheap cheap), and it goes straight to the airport.

Actually I'll get to the airport around 1pm, but the flight's not till 7pm. I DON'T MIND!!! I can think of few places I will be happier than relaxing in the airport waiting to fly away from this interesting, but challenging place.

Great! Everything is working out for you after many starts and stops.

Well, sometimes an airport can be better to pass time than in a casino when one is not gambling. LOL they do not put chairs around for folks to sit in.

I identify!

They've been talking about building a casino in Thailand, but so far the conservative Buddhist culture has prevented it. That's probably a good thing, but I must confess I wouldn't mind it if they do build one. I like the $5 blackjack tables, at least until I get tired of losing money!

*Yawn*, I'm tired, hot day with lots of packing and cleaning (especially cleaning since I'm quite a pig!)

So goodnight, talk to you in (your) afternoon! And then will start the long posting silence from starbase! Probably a couple months before I return to post, so I better get some wordy ones in tomorrow!

Cheers, and goodnight!

Trump and Steve Wynn(Mirage fame) are building big casinos in Macao, but that is hardly around the corner. If you want to see the 8th wonder of the world, try Genting Highlands in Malaysia.

Oh, I thought "Highlands" meant that was a hilly region or something, not a casino! Ah, here it is, so it is a hilly area, plus a lot more, and a casino. Looks excellent.

Couldn't sleep. Well, I slept and woke up, and slept and woke up. I think I need a big 1 liter Kirin Ichiban beer to relax myself with. I'll go down and get one.

Did I ever mention I live on the sixth floor, without an elevator?! Yes it's been quite an experience. I might be more excited about getting away from the six flights of concrete stairs than I am about getting away from Taiwan!

Well, here goes, I'm starting the march down......

Hello Kathy!

Aww so cute. Getting ready for the salt mines I suspect.

How's your weather?? We had showers this AM, now the humidity is on the climb. Normal for NY.

It does. In fact I looked over a book called "Why French Women Don't Get Fat", or some obnoxious title like that, and one of the key parts of their diet (in addition to eating richer foods in smaller quantities and less often) was always using stairs! Some reviewers on Amazon even said many centuries old buildings in France never had elevators installed because people want to walk to balance their diets!

Well, good thinking on their part!

I would think taking on 100 floors would wear a person down in a huge hurry. LOL

Ah, here's the book, it's called French Women Don't Get Fat. It's kind of funny to read the reviews. Some say she's a champagne merchant and pushes her champagne in the book. Others complain that she goes on and on about making sure you change the serving dishes like 4 times for just a normal dinner! Some say she's too obsessive about eating.

But all in all, it is true the whole, eat less, eat better, and walk more can burn off the pounds. I found one of those hot instant grain drinks for breakfast (70 cal) plus walking and working out makes the weight drop off.

Of course 1 liter cans of beer sort of have the opposite effect! (ounce for ounce, Kirin Ichiban is probably the most balanced beer out there!)
