As one of the resident curmudgeons around here, I'll take this opportunity to whine about how so many funeral eulogies seem to be more like five-minute comedy routines. And what really burns me is the material is rarely funny, but leads to the mourners exchanging grimaces of discomfort.

What ever happened to dignified, somber showings of respect and grief?

Agreed.If the deceased was loved and admired then grief and sorrow would be the main themes.The funny stuff...the "do you remember when Mom used to make meatloaf?" stuff...would begin after a period of time.

Yeah, I kinda liked the rituals of a good old-fashioned Catholic funeral with Incense, Frankincense & Myrhh. Latin words that I couldn't understand. Brings back memories......
