I'm a fairly informal person, so that doesn't really bug me. I think I'd notice the breach of etiquette at a nice restaurant or at Thanksgiving dinner, but I don't think I'd notice it was wrong to leave a baseball cap on inside at McDonalds or the feed store. Sometimes the hat is less offensive than the sweaty hat hair, you know :~D

I'd make a distinction between the feed store and McDonalds. I think the bottom line for me is, if you sit down at a table to eat, take your hat off.

It's probably a larger issue for me than just hats. It's a whole mindset of people not knowing how to dress appropriately. I've seen people show up at funerals and semi-formal weddings in jeans and t-shirts. I don't buy the argument that "that's the best they have."

And, our day at Busch Gardens just reinforced that. Once again I had the experience of watching people and thinking that they got up that morning, looked in their closets and said "this looks good."

Then again, maybe I'm just a cantankerous old fart.
