I think I might have Steve slice it gently and see if we can get it out. It might kill the plant, but like I say...we're nearly sick of squash! Heh!
I can't really see where the split is, but cut the da## thing out. We had trouble with all this when we were stationed in N. Carolina. I remember it seemed like fighting a loosing battle.
