Well ... my wife would like the BB gun idea.

I'm thinking more along the lines of something that shoots real bullets.

Seriously, I grew up on a small farm, and we had .22's and shotguns. It wasn't until later in life that I started shooting handguns.

Start with a 9mm - easy to handle and will give you an idea of what it's like. But, don't be surprised if you start craving more power pretty soon! My favorites are the 1911A .45 and the S-W 629, a .44 magnum with the 8 3/8" barrel. Lots of fun!
