And the secret goes with her. I think she knew.

I agree. I don't think she took part in it, but I think she spent these last years of her life with full knowledge of who did it. It had to be someone close for her to keep it such a secret.

CBS really goofed on this one, I think.

There's nothing wrong with their story. It says all over the place, AP etc., that she fought ovarian cancer several years ago.

Those of us who have gone through this know that the loved one dies not from the original cancer suchs a ovarian or breat, but where it spreads, like the brain or lungs. By definition that's what a cancer does. So she likely did die of brain cancer that was brought on by her earlier ovarian cancer.

You're not going to believe this. Just yesterday I was thinking about this case and hadn't thought or heard about it in at least a year. Something triggered it.

/end Twilight Zone music.

Weird when that happens, isn't it? One night I couldn't sleep and impulsively began doing web searches on David Brinkley. I hadn't heard anything on him in a long time and something ignited an intense curiosity.

The next morning I heard that he had died. When I checked my web browser cache, I began my search within minutes of his announced time of death.
(Cue Twilight Zone music again) ;-)

Back on topic...This murder investigation was conducted poorly. And there were mysterious actions by the family after the murder and during the investigation. Add the tabloid media in the mix and we get what we got.

I hope the family had no involvement in Jon Bonet Ramsey's death. There is no worse sin than to betray the trust of innocent children who are your greatest responsibility. This case has been so muddied, I doubt we will ever know the answer in this life as to what happened to the poor child.

< Go rent A CRY IN THE DARK, one of the best movies about this kind of things ever made. >

A similar movie to watch that shows just how police tactics can comepletely screw up an investigation and actually get an innocent person to admit to a crime they didn't commit, try "A Death in Canaan". I used to think it was impossible for people to admit to a murder they didn't commit...then I read about this case and saw the movie.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a rare and extreme case and in almost every case I think it's rectified, as it was in "Canaan". Police need some leverage.

Here's a blurb of the movie:
"A Death in Canaan is an utterly brilliant film based on the real-life murder mystery of teenager Peter Reilly, accused of the brutal murder of his own mother.Paul Clemens stars as the accused young man in question, and the entire cast of this 1978 made -for television film features allstars. Stephanie Powers,Brian Dennehy, and the late Kenneth McMillan lead the way in this outstanding masterpiece. The film takes the viewer on all the twists and turns of the trials, and the ending is perfectly done and intensifies the mystery, which to date remains unsolved."

Yeah, and all on false charges.

The liar should be the one on trial, not the "Duke Boys."

Have you ever bothered to read the crime scene evidence in the case? Have you even sat down, with a medical dictionary, and read the autopsy report on JonBenet? It sure doesn't look like it.

The window had footprints, in the snow going up to the window. Inside the basement, there was evidence of footprints coming in from the window. This was documented by the Boulder CSI department, was listed in their crime scene report and promptly forgotten. By the time their CSI teams went back out to making a casting on the footprints in the snow, the snow had melted to the point a casting was impossible. All documented in their files.

The Boulder PD made so many mistakes in this investigation I doubt even if a suspect was found now could the evidence hold up in a court of law. Unfortunately many of their mistakes centered around evidence that did not fit into their theory that the family had something to do with the murder.

Within the last year, one of the networks did a special update on the Ramsey's. There's a detective that disagreed with the police he was himself associated with and he has aggressively pursued the case. He did not believe that the Ramsey's had anything to do with the child's death and in fact had discovered another house break-in within the Ramsey's neighborhood around the time of the murder and had even identified one who was apprehended. Another individual had been somehow connected with the apprehended individual and he met an untimely death early on after Jon Benet's murder. Sorry I don't know which network, and that I don't recall more of the precise facts. However, based on all that I've read and seen, I do not believe the Ramsey's had anything to do with the murder - nor the son. This appears to me another of those issues that gets staged and played out in ways that don't always fly with the truth: Vince Foster, O.J. Simpson, Global Warming, Gore won Florida, no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, etc. just to mention a few of the questionable stories put forth by the mainstream media.

Who wants to bet me that now we will hear and read ad nauseum that Mrs. Ramsey accidentally killed Jon Benet?

I agree with your reply, but a book came out a few years ago that gave a compelling case against a known child molester who committed suicide in the weeks following the Ramsey murder. This man had committed a similar attack in the area a few weeks earlier, and the victim had screamed...her mom came running and that little girl was okay. The cops bungled the investigation big time. Of course, the Ramsey's messed up the crime scene, too, but you don't tend to act sensibly when something like this happens. The media were terrible, ravenous. It's a wonder the entire family didn't go nuts.

You also havd two perpetrators in the same neighbrhood doing similar crimes, hide-out inside the house and rape. The other assault, I believe, was a teenager within a few blocks of the Ramseys.

That,IMO,is breathtakingly abnormal.

I agree. The first time I saw one of those pageants on tv, I couldn't believe it. The parents were doing everything they could to make those little 5 and 6 year old girls look like they were in the middle of their sexual prime. I found it revolting. I wonder how many child molesters are drawn to those pageants?

Interestingly, that retired detective who got involved in the case, with a terrific track record in solving crimes, believed the Ramsey's were innocent.

Suzy, I suggest you go through some archives somewhere and read up on all the evidence that exonerates the Mr. & Mrs. Ramsey. Check Brytani's postings here, which list some of it. Whoever wrote the letter was a certified nut, but even there, some handwriting experts have said it wasn't Patsy's handwriting.

Gosh, I'd hate to be a parent who had a child murdered in my home--all it takes is a really bad investigation and a media firestorm to railroad the parents, letting the real killer go free. Most people just don't bother to research a case--so if the media says they're guilty, by golly, they're guilty, according to them.

This is news?

I consider it news and another tragedy for her husband and son.
This family has lived a hell under suspicion by the police and public while the real killer is still out there.

Also interesting is the fact that my mother, who can always tell when someone is lying to her just by looking at them, has always believed that Patsy Ramsey was covering up something.

Prayers to the Ramsey family. John Ramsey lost a daughter (from his previous marriage) in a car accident a few years before JonBonet's murder.

I never believed the Ramseys were involved in the murder. I saw a few shows that laid out all sorts of evidence indictating an intruder.

Bingo....the suspect committed suicide. That's why the investigation never turned up the killer...well, and the police really believed the Ramsey's were guilty. Think what would have happened if they hadn't had the funds to hire a good attorney.
