I’d love to know some tips…

Here's a fun one we do every year--

Buy several hundred bottle rockets and get a largish bucket (at least a 5-gallon size). Be sure the bucket is not plastic or it won't be usable afterwards. We put holes in the side around the bottom for air flow.

Put as many bottle rockets in the bucket as possible--all pointing upwards. Be sure you cannot see the bottom of the bucket, and they are all standing on their sticks.

Stick in 2-3 of the super-large sparklers. These will act as fuses.

Light the sparklers and get to several hundred feet away.

My ex-brother-in-law did something like this to the extreme… He filled a cannon with black powder while I grabbed a beer. I was told to ‘check out his cannon’ (hey, there was a cannon - so put this in context) and went over to see him lighting a gross of bottle rockets he had fused together to drop into the cannon. No big deal I thought - - - He quickly jumped away after he dropped the bottle rockets into the cannon and I remember thinking, ‘what a wimp’ - - - until the explosion!

I saw a white light and could hear nothing but “Brrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrr” - When he helped me off the ground I knew he was laughing but I could not hear anything but “brrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrr’ and I think this noise was heart beat - but I can’t be sure.

I tried to find the link to an Aussie web site I saw 3 or 4 years ago that showed where a couple of guys tied over 5000 sparklers together and lit them with a blowtorch. Simply spectacular. It melted the asphalt street they lit it on.
