Wow, what a game! Carolina came out skating fast - and hitting hard.
I'm glad to see Carolina win the Stanley Cup. I watched the 2002 Stanley Cup and was disappointed when they lost to the Red Wings.
Edmonton played well and was a much stronger opponent than I thought!
Comments or opinions (on the series or the game) - anyone?

Huh?!
I agree. June 19th is a little late for the season to end.
I'm guessing it has something to do with ticket revenue and sales of jerseys, t-shirts, etc.
Lots of rednecks on that roster wouldn't you say?
It has a little more to do with the 2 week break for the Olympics. But even so, they should start the season in early September instead of October and be on the golf course by the beginning of May.
I suspect the NHL would love to extend the season as long as they could from a revenue stand point. Due to 2 small TV markets in the finals, the NHL needed this thing to go to 7 games to generate as much interest as possible.
First Hurricane of season is southern friendly. Could be a long hurricane season for the folks up north.
Thanks for those links! Now I just need some Mackinac Island Fudge and it will feel like I'm back in the U.P.
It was great......the ol' hometown here (Raleigh) is just ALL abuzz over it. Quite a rush. :)
woohooo, we won!
Eric Stahl is from my hometown, Thunder Bay, Ontario. We will give him a hero's welcome when he brings the Stanley Cup to our city.
Brett Hull is my hero!
The Whalers franchise started out in Boston... something that doesn't get mentioned all that often.
I also got to boo Tim Robbins! That schmuck was at the game.
I was at most of the post season games. Missed 1st two games of Montreal. Missed one game against Jersey. Missed game one against Buffalo. And missed game 1 and 5 of the finals.
A lady had a sign in the stands last night...
The Cup Belongs in Canada. When Eric Staal brings it home to Mama!
That's kinda like Kansas City taking credit for the New Jersey Devils...
Hey, what ever floats your boat!
Excellent!
He is such a tool.
Carolina Residents Confused, Terrified As Victorious Hurricane Players Riot In Streets

And as a kid in Georgia, we had World Series day games---
transistor radios brought to school and classes for that part of the day at a standstill while we all listened in---
League Expansion (not to mention Prime-Time television revenues) brought an end to it, I'm afraid.
Those days are gone forever.
And in the case of hockey, it makes back-to-back cups a lot harder because of the mere three months between The Cup and first puck drop of the new season.
