He has nothing. He was hoping to string this along until the election. However, he has national attention, defendants from outside of Durham (from the big city), the media now on his butt, and Bennett doin' his thang. It isn't going at all like he planned. He was hoping that the attention would die down, one reason he's pissed at Newsweek and the media, and he could still play his constituancy race card.

It sure has taken the media enough time to see what many of us suspected from the start and firmly believed after the first DNA test results were released.

As Fieger said tonight, there is no recourse against Nifong. Fieger says he has absolute immunity. I thought he did too, but here on FR, we discussed this two months ago and I was corrected by one of our prosecutor posters. Nifong has qualified immunity from an action by the players. And unless a miracle happens at the general election, Nifong won't be tossed from office for four years. And... what makes anyone think that the majority of his voting constituency is displeased with his prosecution of the "privileged" white boys?

This is so disgusting.
