Woody Vann is a defense lawyer, and represented Crystal Gail Mangum a few years back when she was hand-slapped after stealing the car, DUI, etc.

Yep and recently, before the prosecution case fell apart with her multiple stories among other things, he was all over TV saying how reliable and trustworthy she is.

Like I said earlier, she is a poster girl for Durham.

Ah well, let's stand pat. Tomorrow will be a big day. Anyone know what time the courthouse proceedings begin?

What still p*sses me off is that Duke is having all these self criticism sessions about campus culture and what needs to be done better to get along with Durham but Durham has done absolutely nothing to address its own cultural deficiencies which are clearly far more of the problem.

I'm pretty sure I remember that Kim contacted Cheshire before all this blew up in public.

I don't think it was Chesire Kim contacted. I think it was the black defense attorney (can't remember his name, but he has had TV camera time). I think it was this black defense attorney, who is representing one of the indicted players, who once represented Kim in another matter.

The transcript from the 6/21 Abrams show is stunning. How many versions of one event can a person come up with?

And in NC he gets to pick which judge he puts this in front of. Judges who rule against the DA find themselves not getting any felony cases.

I guess the question now is, is he going to leave Stevens on the job or go with Hardin.

Could be but I remember this is why the defense lawyers early on knew that there was no rape because Kim had told them there was none. This was important to the categorical statements the defense lawyers were making with confidence prior to the release of the 1st DNA. The players, of course, always knew there was no rape.

I see that Nifong in seeking a subpoena for the names and addresses of 47-49 of those supposedly at the party, is casting his net upon the waters....hoping to 'catch' something...anything.

He's desperate, maybe trying to get enough testimony to trip someone up on a trumped-up perjury charge, because he doesn't have a rape charge, that's for sure.

"...casting his net upon the waters....hoping to 'catch' something...anything."

The very term "Fishing" was used by the defense attorneys when they filed the motion to quash the subpoena request. That hearing is scheduled for July 3 unless the case gets dismissed this week.

I think we'll definitely need a new thread tomorrow, abb. Will you start it?

No this isn't justice. This is just straight up scary. The only thing Nifong has is hookers word, which has changed many times. Some of the talking heads keep on saying the woman should have her day in court. Well they should think about this. They are famous people in a sense. Anyone, man or woman could do some stuff to themselves and then follow these people into a room. They could then call the cops and accuse them of rape. Do you think if someone did something like this to Alan Colmes he would say the victim deserves their day in court? Hell no he wouldn't.

I'll get up early and see what the NandO and HeraldSun have and use one of them to do that.

Didn't someone post stuff here that there was people who were charged with murder in Durham that had lower bonds than the Duke boys? I think "the state" just wants to hold on to the money as long as possible and make interest on it.

Along this line, I have been wondering what is the highest bail that has ever been set in Durham, and for what crime. Anyway to find this out???
