My neighbors here would feed if I needed but would surely call the police and then walk over if someone showed up when I wasn't home. I used to wonder but then several years ago Janelle stopped by to check on a mare getting ready to foal because Bob and I were both at work. My neighbor across the street came over and confronted her and called me at work to okay her being here :)
There's something to be said for nosey neighbors.
