Good grief what a close call!
Those long trailers on tight turns ~shudder~
Ours is pretty short, but you know we still have to swing wide to ensure it doesn't cut the corners. Our fear is often just the width of the trailer going down the road, it's wider than the truck, and I always get the sensation that we don't fit in the lane. I tend to hug the centerline until big trucks come, then I feel pretty squeezed and I watch my right mirror to see if I'm still in the lane. We have a couple bridges where the abuttment is right at the right hand line, I hate passing oncoming traffic there.
Before I moved, I used to have to haul the trailer across a mile and a half long 2-lane bridge on top of the dam, every time I went anywhere, and it was NOT fun to meet a tractor/trailer on that thing. But at least they know EXACTLY where their trailer is and usually don't crowd you. The worst thing was meeting another nervous yahoo pulling a boat who didn't know how big his boat was and wanted his lane and part of mine too. There were several time I thought I was going to lose a fender or a mirror. Talk about having your butt draw up!
