Steroid shot on the side of the neck, although I think it was an injection simply to deliver the drug more quickly. His next 3 doses were to be oral.
I have a lot of faith in this vet, but the waiting is killing me. Patience is not something I'm known for.

The DMSO is an abbreviation for dimethylsulfoxide. It's an industrial solvent that is a derivitive of wood. It acts to help with quicker and deeper delivery of the steroid, but it itself also reduces inflammation. I've worked with it before in the lab. Awful stuff to get on your skin, leaves a terrible taste in your mouth when that happens! The FDA has banned its use on people, but you can still use it on animals.
