This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I'm sitting here being lazy. I took a working mini vacation. I have the state inspecting my classroom Wed. Thing is, instead of working, I've been running the roads. As for mt job... I'm scheduled to convert to part time but it could be as late as Sept.
Well, I figured out where the tankers aren't, along with any crews right now. Here :(

A mandatory evacuation was just declared for Moundhouse area.
It would be nice if you could convert to part time before then and take advantage of the summer.
Does it look the same so far at your place?
I was just remembering a few months ago when you had water running down the street. Weather is sure a fickle thing.
Wow that's a big area. Are you close?
Hoping the fires burn out, or go away from you at least.
Becky
That's what I'm hoping for.
It looks like it's about doubled in size right now. Yes, I sure do miss the water in the street. I much prefer floods :)
It's feast or famine around there.
I can't figure out where the second fire is that they keep saying is NW of us.
:) Well, that's one thing about Nevada, nothing is half way here.
Are the fires anywhere near the wild horses?
Yes, there are several bands of wild horses in the fire areas. Hopefully they moved out.
You might be getting company:')
Found the second fire, you can barely see it just about the top of the horse trailer. It's probably 7-8 miles from us, going the other way.
Thanks for the pictures.. Looks like the people between you and the fire are home. I bet they're watching the same thing.
They just anounced on the TV that the voluntary evacuations were canceled for our area. I'm taking that to mean that we aren't in any danger right now. The wind has really stopped.
Well, good. Hopefully that's the end of it. Maybe now you can talk your neighbor into mowing.
I'd probably be more successful if he wasn't a renter :) I don't think he's real concerned about it yet. Have a good night, I'll take some more pictures later on if I can see anything. Now I have to have something to eat :)
