This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well my my.... A lot more work than I thought, even.
You have a good night :~D
So there's that. I washed your stuff first :~)
It's a very nice evening here, so I got myself out and worked the horse. I was expecting him to be full of it, because it's so nice. But he was slow and plodding. I think it's just the boredom of lunging....and the time he's had off.
I didn't think of it earlier because I was just thinking of lunging, but I should have gotten Mack to throw the saddle on, before he took off to town to practice his drums. Darn.....
Maybe tomorrow evening...
Becky
Hopefully tomorrow evening :~)
Hot here... We just hosed off our dog. She resented it, but she has to feel better now :~D
Peter is beautiful - outstanding - gorgeous :)
Is this Lakeland your dog too? Where do you find the hours in a day to take care of all of them? To keep them in show shape I mean.
And I'm sitting here watching a wild fire about three miles away, hoping that the fire crews can keep it on the other side of the road. Bad day here for fires, lightening started fires all over the area.
Oh dear. I sure hope they get it under control Duchess.
We've got sprinklers going in the yard, everything is so dry. My biggest concern is my neighbor who has five acres of dry weeds. I think I've got enough clear space to make sure all the horses are okay if it comes over - hell, I'd just put all of them in the round pens with sprinklers going if necessary. I just took some pictures and will down load them.
Dang how scary... waiting for pictures.
It looks like it's making a run up the mountain against the wind right now. Away from us.

**Voluntary evacuations are in place in the Stagecoach area due to the Copper Fire and the Iron Mountain Fire, both NW of Stagecoach
Where's the road you mentioned... where those two near homes are? OOOhh I hope they stop it before it gets that close.
I can do it on flat land. My foot turns just right and down I go.
A lot of posts and great pictures:')
I haven't seen any tankers yet, I don't know where they are. I'm hearing on the news that the fire in Moundhouse (between me and Carson City)jumped the road. That's really bad since there are a lot of homes in there. I'm guessing the fire crews must be spread pretty thin for that to have happened.
Interesting times.
How are things going with you and did you go part time?
Is seems whatever fuel is there, the dry grass would burn up quick. would be really scary though. Keep us posted, you're in our prayers.
THat's scary. I found out yesterday that our well house at our lake lot burned down. They had a storm and everything was wet. The old trailor next to us burned down and caught the building on fire. There was nothing in it but we built it ourselves and it didn't get built over night. I'm glad the trees didn't burn though.
