The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We always notice when a lot needs to be seal and/or restiped:)

The layout is Macks department. I'm not knowledgeable enough on that, and have never really noticed a badly laid out one, with the exception of one he took me to see. He actually laid it out, but tried to get the owners of it to do it different. But they were set on a certain way. There is no way tho, that people in bigger trucks aren't going to have problems...and this community is full of BIG trucks. He made them sign off that they had been warned.

You're kind, and I trust you to remain kind, even after you've followed me for a few miles :~D

Ah - well I hate parking lots that make it difficult to find the exit. Enough planters and dividers already :~)

Well believe me, mine is no better:), I've done nothing but pack on weight these past couple of weeks laying around here doing nothing. Been driving me nuts, but, oh well, that's life. We can lament together:)

I saw a woman on a Fjord that was about my weight and she looked great on him. They're WIDE little suckers, without being all that tall.

Here's a pic I took of Bob on Saturday and I told Shirley when I took it that you'd think I was a QH person or something to be taking a picture from that angle. Of course nobody would EVER mistake Bob for a QH. ;o)

LOL, are we that bad:)

Truly the main reason I take them from that angle is the horse looks better. There was an article in a magazine I read one time about photographing horses. It said that was the best angle to take from. Horses are hard to photograph, and I've noticed if you take them from the front on, they can really look bad.

I'm truly not just showing his big butt:)

I have been thinking about getting Charlie to help me get him use to dragging something:), I want to drag around some cinder blocks or tires to build it up some:)

See, I think that rear angle makes their necks look too short, and I guess I'm more into long slender arched necks than big-looking butts. I much prefer the square-on side shot like this...

I do agree that horses don't look their best when taken from the front.

Well, they do a lot of quarter fronts angles too, to show width of chest. But the butt shot with the horse looking back at you, like the Harley picture, is a pretty standard QH advertisement pose :~D You'll never seen an Arab stallion advertised with that angle.

Making him walk up steep hills will build him up more than dragging a cinder block, unless you put him in a pulling collar and hooked him up to a drag sled full of them.

I've had "The Man From Snowy River" on this morning....Just watched the end where he goes down the mountian, and brings the herd home...I have tears in my eyes. Jeez wouldn't it be a rush to ride like that:)

Yes, it would be a rush, but no, I wouldn't do it!
