This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
".But geeze wouldn't it be cool to be up in that state forrest we were in on the clear cut, when it goes....If you get warnings that it is going to happen, I think that is where I'd go:) What a sight that would be."
No thanks! I will watch it on teevee, in between all the headache commercials.

Happy Friday!
Good Morning!
Deuce was safely delivered yesterday and I was suprised to hear the intake tech tell him "your girls have been waiting for you". I asked her what she meant and she told me he was a favorite with the staff because he was both well mannered and a clown. I felt like the teacher just told me my kid was a star...of course I am a dork!
I have to go to Walmart afterwhile. I'll look in the mark down bin. CW isn't very popular around here.
You don't think you would make it from there????
If they were giving warnings and I had time, and could make it from there, I'd be there camping with you:)
Becky
Oh sure! We'd be just fine up there :~)
:') I hope everything works out. I have missed some of your posts I guess. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong. Can you do an update?
Well if that thing ever started doing anything, and an eruption was going to happen, I'm there:)
Becky
Sure. Deuce has a mass a little larger than a golf ball that is hanging from a pedicle (looks like a little straw) in his airway, right near his guttural pouches. It's too large to be removed via sinus but dr doesn't want to open his neck to remove it.
Job requires a specialized laser and it broke when Deuce went there originally last month. Repair was a nightmare and it turns out the dr needed to purchase a new one. Couldn't refer him out because even OSU doesn't have one of these.
Anyway, the new laser was installed this week, Deuce was delivered and I'm waiting for a call to see how the first procedure went today. Just not sure what time it's happening.
That's a deal :~) We got quite a bit of warning for the last volcano :~)
I forgot to mention last night that while we were in town yesterday we found out that the Bixby Homecoming Parade was going to happen. We stuck around for it, I love marching bands:) The band was great, but there was also 1 horse drawn wagon. It was the coolest thing. I think the horses may have been Freisian (sp), but for sure some large, black type draft. And the wagon was really really tall, it had wooden sides...very pretty. Nicest rig I think I've ever seen. I didn't have my camera with me since I didn't know there was going to be a parade:(, but I sure wish I had a picture of these horses and wagon.
Later when we were going home we saw the wagon up on a trailer being pulled behind a very long, gooseneck trailer, being pulled by a big dually truck....that was pretty awesome too:)
Becky
Sounds cool :~) It'd be fun to teach one to drive, wouldn't it? But around here, I don't know where I'd drive to!
Once they break it loose , how are they going to bring it out?
That's why the specialized laser. It won't be broken loose, but rather shrunken by controled laser in probably 3 procedures. Then, once it's small enough, it will be removed.
Oh ok. I was thinking it was to burn the flap holding it. Will he stay there are will you have to bring him back to complete his treatment.
He's going to stay there. Dr. said the tissue has to sit a day in between treatments. We're a little over 2 hours away.
I have to admit am having minor panics since I haven't gotten a call yet. There have been so many stupid things happen to delay this that I just keep expecting bad things to happen.
Sounds like they are very technically advanced though. I wonder if most vets do this and would require surgery. After it's done and he's ok, if it wouldn't bother you, you might ask if they video. I bet they do. That would be a really intesting tprocedure to see.
I'll bet it was a team of Percherons. A lot of them are gray, but there's a black variety too...

They are sometimes shown in fine harness but you mostly see them in Dressage because they are absolutely GORGEOUS...
