The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good morning... We're off now to put in a new gate opening between the paddock and the back forty.

Alison is so cute. It's fun, watching her. She'll be able to look back and see herself growing up here:')

Have fun with the gate. I just spent a bit of time putting up plastic over my garden. We had a frost last night that got the tops of my tomatoes, peppers and eggplant. The plastic won't help in case of a hard freeze but it will keep things going a little longer I hope. If it survives the wind.

Well, I think you had a right to be proud of what the two of you accomplished yesterday. It was quite something.

Me too. I just hope she isn't as sore as I am . I wanted to tell you that this horse talking thing can back fire on you though. Yesterday in the pasture SL started to walk away. I told her to stop or I was going to have to lunge her . She immediately stopped. I asked her if she was sure she didn't need lunging before we went to the beach. She dropped her head and lied:')

LOL - well, they don't always tell the truth, but they do most usually understand what you're telling them.

I just got my van unpacked. Now I need to get out there and wash it. When my husband gets home with the truck I need to go clean the trailer.

I'm putting off the house. I can do that after dark. I mowed the yard already too. My husband was talking about how he needed to do it this evening when he got home. It was the least I could do after him sticking with me yesterday.

Looks like all of us are busy today. My nephew is here right now, trying to fix another leak under my sink.

Bodie is doing fine, but he is bad. Tore down our equine liability sign. Quite a personality on that horse. Jody and Biscuit just love him, because they are both in heat. I have not turned them out together yet. With so much work to do on that pasture, I have not had a chance to ride him. Plus, we have had rain. Today, was beautiful, so I mowed the yard and cleaned stalls. We cut up some of the matting and put in his stall and Tubby's. My daughter bought me a new halter and lead with his name of it. I will get pictures of that.

The two mares look like they are gaining weight. Amy trimmed their front feet. When we turn them out, they actually run and buck now.

Frost already? Wow! Brrrrrrr.

He probably tore down the sign so someone would come visit him :)

At least he hasn't opened any gates. I'm so glad to hear the mares are doing better.

Yep, frost :( A real bummer as far as I'm concerned.

Are you required to have a sign if you have horses?

Frost huh? Well I'm cold here. Achy and chills. I tried to turn the heater on but hubby wouldn't let me, so I'm wrapped in a blanket. We have a storm coming thru tonight so that's probably it.

Creating a gate where there was no gate before...

We've already cut the wire and bent it back, but basically this is "before"...

And now "gate"! Mares are interested in this new development :~D. I wanted this gate so I can take manure from the barn and dump/spread it in the back-forty easily.

Was a long day and we're sore and tired. The post that the four rails are nailed to in the before picture had to come out so those posts are all new. We got all the wire back up in the paddock and reworked the grounds and the power supply. It's better now near the source but it's still losing power somewhere before it gets around to the end. :~\ Another day troubleshooting tomorrow.
