This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
We did that for endurance and it was kind of fun, along with having the ability to look back at a particular ride for comments about the ride.
I can read most of it by zooming in on them.... thanks! They're neat to see!
Doing work here I don't want to do, so I'm drinking while I do it :~)
Yeah, I have a book with all my scorecards in it. At first I kept the maps, but I haven't been that dedicated since I started riding Harley. But I have all the scorecards from the rides I've done with him.
With Belle's cards, it was interesting to see how each year her P&R'S got better.
Harley's are doing the same thing. I think it is more a mental thing. They learn to rest when they can, they don't get hyped up, they learn what to expect. His rates are improving faster then Belle's did, he's just a more laid back horse.

OOOO....well, I'll have a beer with you:)
I figured you would know how to zoom them. I thought it might make it easier to understand the scoring, that you might find it interesting.
Sorry your job has taken a bad turn...maybe it just seems bad because it's change. I hate change in routine stuff:)
Well, I'm going to go back and watch some more of this show....hard to follow at times. I was so oblivious to this sort of stuff back then, I don't remember a lot of it....not such a bad thing in a way.

Hair, that is one of the reason, I took early retirement. For 19 years, up until the last few, my job was super. The English took over and made so many changes. In the main offices, they fired people that had been there for many, many years. Then they hired all these fresh out of college "we can pay them less" accountants. The changes were certainly not for the better. Work was harder, and no increase in salary. I had enough of it and don't regret it one bit.
I do find it interesting... And I just hate the rest of today, so I like interesting diversions!
The players in the movie were hard for me to follow, too, last night, lots of complicated inter-relationships.
Yes, I did. Picked him up tonight. He loaded right up, rode in the trailer well. Quiet while we made two stops and stood quiet while we shuffled horses. Too dark for pictures. Jody and Biscuit are doubling up. We just turned those two out for now. Vet is coming Wedsnesday, to check the two new mares. Sable was bucking and running around. Good sign.
We had coupons for buy two and get two free of Omolene. I had two coupons, but they didn't have enough 100. I ended up with 200 lbs of 100 and 200 lbs of 200. Those horses will be hanging from the rafters.
You know, I've had it really easy the last few years. The fact that I'm not paid a lot was more than made up for by the fact that I work from home, and have been entirely independent. So this just represents a loss of freedom and creativity for me. I wrote the prior database I've lived in the last few years, and it was perfectly tailored for what I needed to do. This one is not only new, but really really really really badly designed. From an architecture AND interface stanpoint. And I have to live with it.
I still have it good, I guess, I can bitch about it from home and I don't have to dress up in a skirt and go to some office to bitch about it :~)
WOO HOO! Pictures tomorrow then!
Hope everyone settles in fine, and that the vet check goes well on Wed. Figgered out how to design in another stall yet?
Here are some more pictures my daughter emailed me. She took these with the high dollar camera from her work. They use it for the catalogs. So much nicer then mine. Last show of the year.
OH - those pictures are gorgeous!
Oh, Alison looks great :)
I guess my period of mourning is over, now that I have another horse to call my own.
I'm really glad you got him. Somehow he just seemed like the RIGHT one. Anxiously awaiting pictures tomorrow.
This is Dakota and PJ
Well, he looks good to me. Tell him and Alison my story of the horse show Saturday, it will make them feel better :)
Won't there be water available at the beach for SL? You can carry some for her but I don't think you can carry enough - what she will need is dependent on the weather and how much work she will do. She could drink up to 20 gallons a day.
Looks like rain here, for the next couple of days.
