This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
LOL Very smart kitty.
I always enjoy seeing my horses sacked out in the sun (after the first start to check to see if they are breathing) because I know they are comfortable and feel safe.
What kind of Mannequins do yall have in your lab? I was talking to an instuctor at a college around here today. Have you heard on "Sim mam"? He talks and breathes and you can do just about any nursing procedure on him. All for 30K.
That's the great thing about bay's:)
Becky
Thought you were gone. Have a good ride.
Thanks everyone. Makes it more fun to know I've got people back home waiting to hear:) I'm really looking forward to going.
Just finished up with the last few chores. Of course when I pulled my trailer out, it had a flat. The last time I used it was when I took Harley to the vet, and she was building a barn at the time. Mack found a nail. It's all fixed now, Since I'm taking the RV, of course the light plug was different then on my truck, so we had to work on the lights a bit, but they are all working now:)
Tomorrow morning should not be difficult:) crossing fingers.
Becky
Thanks. No I leave in the morning.

To tell the truth, that picture scared me. I thought she looked like something was really wrong...
Becky
Oh - Glad you pulled it out and discovered that tonight!
Heh - I know, I looked twice at her, she was just sound asleep :~)
Me too:)!!!!
Now I just remembered I have to run to town, Susie's leash is at our building...she has to have a leash...

I know that daze. I am in it right now!
Fortunately, I think the testing won't be as challenging for me as some of the others. I have taken Microsoft and Novell certification tests (many over the past 15 years). The NCLEX test format is the same type of testing that Microsoft started using about 10 years ago.
I just have to learn and absorb the material, as I did for the Microsoft and Novell tests.
I think we have some of those in the lab. They told us we will practice actual procedures on the dummies. We start lab next Tuesday with bed baths (practice on each other). The college lab is so real that in the event of a medical emergency, we could open as a small hospital and admit patients.
Yep! The gray has been a real learning experience for me. First gray I ever owned. I always had bays and chesnuts.
Tests weren't a problem for me but some had trouble, esp with the no wrong but best answers. My son graduates from LVN school in about 6 weeks. It's getting close. He has already sent his application to sit for boards. He'll clep or bridge his RN later. I'm really proud of him. School and studying has never been easy but he has hung in there.
Congratulations on your son's success!
I plan on going on to get my BSN once I finish the RN.
I have been working on that for years. Time for me to get serious though. I can see where the state could starting making it a requirement for directors of career schools soon. I just have not needed it before. Yeah, it opens doors but for most facilities an RN is an RN. Not much difference in pay and you can climb the ladder as high as you want to go, within the company. Nothing else on my plate right now though.
It must be contagious! My sister is a nurse, my brother is a nurse, my SIL is a nurse, and one of my husband's aunts is a nurse. I also have 3 friends (also horsey) who are nurses.
Horses and nursing seem to go together well. I have done quite a bit of horse nursing with various injuries and illnesses over the years. But, it will take some getting used to patients that can talk back to you!
