This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Our cook out didn't get rained on yesterday, but it was pretty cool and windy. Lots of ex-relatives, but we all get along and it was nice to see them. My daughter furnished the turkey and big beef round, so I was invited. This was at my ex-mother-in-law's place. They have a big lake and picnic area. She always sends me a birthday and Christmas card too.
Cindy, that horsing around with kids will get you every time. I bet you all had a lot of fun. Hope you get better.
Hair, corn are very heavy feeders. They take a lot of nitrogen to grow well. I gave up on growing corn, because of the squirrels and raccoons stealing the ears. The horses sure liked that treat.
The lady with the Appaloosa gelding came down on her price to $2000 now. I emailed her yesterday and told her I had to pass. She emailed me back with the offer. Sure is tempting.
When the corn was young, I fed it every watering with Miracle Grow... Then I got kindof lazy and just watered it. I wonder if it've done better if I'd kept feeding it.
Hullo Frog.... glad your first ride on Hope went so well, and we look forward to the pictures tomorrow! Careful haulin' all that hay, don't mess your back up.
Yeah. I wouldn't have it any other way though. I decided to bake the cake this year instead of buy. I need some practice on decorating though. The babies are easy to please but it needed a lot of work.
I finally got around to hanging the 2 maps I got while in Wa this year:). In our office we hang maps, post cards, and posters we get on vacations.
Becky
Ah good :~) One's of the volcano, right? What's the other one?
We're barbecuing a/the turkey today :~)
I got both of them while at the volcano, the other one is of Southwest Wa. I got my atlas map out and found Tumwater on it so I could mark on the map where I rode at:). Tumwater isn't shown on this map but Olympia is.
Becky
Oh - one of them was kindof an artist's rendering of the area, right? I remember, that one's good to have, gives a feel for the area. :~)
Yeah, that's the one. Since it shows what's forest and hills, that's pretty much how I'm 99.9% sure of where we were at on the horses:)
Becky
Thanks for checking in, our thoughts are with you and your getting things together! Sorry things aren't going well. Use us if you want some support and prayers and a place to vent and worry.... Lord knows we do it enough :~)
Quick hello back:)
Sorry things aren't going well.
Stop by when you can, we miss you.
Becky
Should be just West of Oly. - take a picture of it if you want confirmation :~)
LOL.
Becky
HHHMMMMMMMM....looks on this map that it is more south then west of Olympia??? The forest that I circled is kind of triangluar shaped with I-5 to the east of it and another major road that is not labeled to the west...Olympia is at the top and to the east of it?
Becky
MMMMMMMMMMMMM.....
Becky
I'm sure that's it... The artist is 'close enough' :~)
I can't get a picture of it because this map has a shiny surface and it gets a glare from the flash.
Becky
It's the unnamed large green area between I-5 and the highways that go to the ocean :~D

I don't know why I didn't think to get some postcards while I was in that gift shop...That's something we do when we go places. The post cards and map next to the Wa. one are from our trip to Sturgis in 2002.
