This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Congratulations!! You have worked hard for this moment!
Good for you:')
Thanks. I'm afraid my hard work may just be beginning though. At least now I can get paid for it :')
Bay blows at his own puddle of suds washing off of him in a bath :~)
I am so sorry to hear about this. Praying that all works out for the best - it's hard to know what the best will be in a situation like this, isn't it?
Well, only if he puts the home on one acre at one of the corners - otherwise, what about later if you want to move to the property. But with twenty acres, if you gave him an acre at one of the corners, with road frontage, that would work out, don't you think? How would the other kids feel about this arrangement?
I was having a lesson on Jake one night a few years ago. The indoor arena had 2 open doors with gates across them and he was always hinky when going past those doors, especially at night.
So, as we cantered passed one door, he farted real loud and scared himself. I laughed so hard I just about fell off.
Chain link fencing around their house at a minimum, with no gate to the rest of the property, or a gate with a padlock. :) It won't stop her probably, but it will slow her down (I hope).
Now ~that's~ funny! :~D
Hope you're celebrating tonight. When I get a chance to pour myself a glass of wine, consider yourself toasted. :)
Congratulations. Sounds like you are over the first hurdle and landing in tall cotton with the hospital you've been assigned.
I'm having a Big Red wine, myself right now. Clink:')
Clink :)
Cindy, you should move if that's what you want. 5 or 6 miles is nothing. Our cabin is 2 hrs and 15 minutes. I do have to say that it is wonderful. Quiet, great trails and serenity. The only thing missing is another horse to keep Waylon company......he gets bored after 3-4 days.
Here's a link to an article that was linked on another site...It's a fun article, some I thought sounded reasonable, other parts made me LOL. It's about "How horses see"

Becky
That was an interesting article. Thanks!
So what do you think about testing a horses eyesight by showing him pictures?
Becky
I think it's just because they don't want to get their feet wet, and they think we're rude to ask :~)
Good morning :~)
Congrats, Cindydawg!
We put in the posts to divide the pasture and one string of wire. Not too hard a job as the pasture is only 130' wide. We will have to finish the other 3 strands tonight. Then I can spray and reseed. My daughter is off today, so we are going to go for a ride later. She hasn't rode Biscuit much this year. Then I must finish that garage!
Sounds good, take some pictures today :~)
