The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Do we have enough FReepers in-between for a trailer relay? :~)

I think you're right. I promise not to send an appaloosa her way. Or any other horse for that matter :) They are a disease.

What's the deal with covering cages? I never did with my parrot. Is it just noise control? I haven't been covering the parakeet either. In the wild they aren't covered. Do they hide to sleep?

I cover the lovebird at night - I guess to make sure he stays warm and knows it's night. Supposedly it keeps them quiet but he will still chirp every once in awhile and in the morning if I'm not up with the alarm.

You've got that right! And, there is NO cure. Apparently, my husband is immune.

I tend to worry if I don't hear him chirping. He's ten years old so he's pushing the limits. I don't like birds but George has been around a long time, I'd hate to see him go.

Well, the fact that your husband is immune helps some I guess. LOL

The parrot was big. This little guy is tiny. I'm closing his cage at night because he comes out and I don't want to step on him. I may throw a sheet over his cage. I was going to take a pic tonight but my batteries are down.

I have a folded sheet that lays on the top of George's cage. I pull it over the whole top and then the top half at night. His boxes are at the top of the cage so I figure that will keep drafts out of them. I dunno if it works or he cares though.

Well it won't hurt him anyway. He'll probably chew a whole in your sheet though. That's what George did.

Good Morning.

First day of first grade for Alison. She was so excited.

Good luck ShakenJake on your first day.

Deuce Update: I'm learning so much about patience!

Dr called Friday afternoon to tell me laser could not be repaired by service guy and needed a part, which will be Fedexed today. They are not charging me any board because this situation. The Dr's concern is that when the part arrives they will find it may need a second part and if that is the case I've got to go pick up the horse until the machine is fixed.

I'd scream, but I work in IT and we see this very thing at least once a month. Error says motherboard is fried, Dell overnites a motherboard and once machine is booted up again it now says that the Hard drive is failing.

Technology! Ugh!!
