This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Janelle, a friend of ours is the one that climbed on. Bob had him on a lunge line in one of the rings.
Well, It's been a very strange summer but one of the things that happened is that my son and DIL seperated. She is now living about an hour away from us with her grandparents. The loud filly "Josey" is hers. She took her mare and filly with her.
It really is a pretty area up there. Actually, my grandparents were from an even smaller town further up the mountain, called Magalia, but no one has ever heard of it so I always say the larger town of Paradise.
Sacramento is a beautiful city. My sister and I flew in there once a few years ago, to visit my grandparents before they died. Wonderful smell to California, so floral and fresh. I have an aunt that lives near LA and even though everyone complains about the smog, I think it smells good, too.
I'm sure glad to hear you're getting rain too.
:'( Oh well..........
Oh - I'm sorry about the breakup with your son and DIL. That seemed like such a great partnership between all of you.
California really is a beautiful state. Once you are out of the cities you just can't find prettier country.
Oh my, so sorry to hear about that. No more endurance rides?
Agreed. California would be my first choice, if I was to ever move from Texas.
It was a real shock to all of us. Hopefully she'll stay in horses because she's so good at it. Some mutual friends are gently pressuring her for help in training to see if they can get her back into it.
How sad. I 'm sorry to hear that.
No - no more endurance. That's one of the reasons we sold Ghost. He was just too good a horse to just stand around. We have put several up for sale, they are just too much for Bob to handle on his own. My niece and great niece really try to help and do do a lot of work but they just don't have the feel or the courage. My great niece will one day be just as good a rider I imagine, but she's got a ways to go.
Wow, I bet that was a shock. Sad news.
Thanks. We're all hoping that she ends up okay, my son seems to be coping alright but she's a little off the deep end right now.
Well that's good.
Yep - it was a shock.
I was born in California and lived there until my first husband went on active duty. I've never been anywhere else that I thought was quite a pretty but there are just too many people and too many liberals and too many freeways there for me now.
My son is in San Diego. I couldn't believe how pretty it was. Their apartment is actually built into a hill. The people though...they act ....different.
