The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, it's not an easy decision, if your goal has been to produce high quality horses for sale, you don't want to just keep all the really good ones! :~) but he's terrific.

That's my point :) Tuffy going to a big barn would be great advertising for us.

EEEWWWWWWWWWWW.....you were talking about being creeped out about a lizard being in your couch.....I just had a tarantula walking across my living room floor....eeewwwwww...I've still got the shivers:). I've been worrying about a possum getting in with all the doors open, and then that thing shows up...I got it flipped out the front door with a hoe...yuk.

Really? You have teratulas there?

Well, I'd have taken a picture of that!

Well, I knew you would want a picture, so I got one AFTER I got it outside. I wasn't loosing track of it while I hunted for batteries for the camera (it's out again),

I've posted pictures of them before, I guess you just don't remember. This one is bigger then the palm of my hand.

Well, I can't believe I forgot about that.

That's a simply marvelous spider! Don't people keep them as pets?

Marvelous spider....you've got to be nuts:)...Yes, some idiots keep them as pets. I guess their good in one since, they eat wasps.....No they do not spin webs.

I remember when I posted the pictures before you said something like any spider that grows hair is too big:) You've just forgotten.

I see them several times a year around the house, and you see them quit often crossing the roads while driving....

It's so funny, the darn thing was walking across the floor not 2 inches in front of Susie. She was just laying there watching it...

He's marvelous in that he's a marvel, but I wouldn't want one as a pet. You're right, I do sortof remember pictures before, and I still think any spider with hair is too big :~D

That is some spider. I'm sure glad that I don't have them around here. My cats and the little dogs would just have to catch them - ick.

I thought you would have them there... They're in Arizona... I've seen them as kindof a desert critter.

I've never seen one here. Maybe it gets too cold for them in the winter. We do have an occassional scorpion though. I only have to deal with black widows and brown recluse here.

True Quest was ridden today for the first time. I did not get pictures because I didn't know about it :) I was in the house, cleaning and dehydrating peaches.

No bucks, no problems - apparently he enjoys the attention and figures this might be a good thing.

Tweek, the Great Hunter, found the lizard in the house!

Lizard looks OK - besides losing his tail, which is a design feature... I let him go in the woods.

Hmmm.... wonder where the tail is?

Guys, you would not have believed these horses. If Animal Cops ever saw them, these people would be fined big time, and those horses taken away from them. They are Appaloosa/Missouri Fox Trotter cross. One 8 and the other 10. They were so skinny, I felt so sorry for them. Hooves were so long, they had not been trimmed in years. I asked about worming, and the man said he gave him a half tube each. They just don't know why they are so skinny. Duh! Maybe they need some groceries. These people really don't know anything about horses. Both are broke to ride, but we didn't ride them. The deal is both horses, 10 round bales for $200. The hay is worth at least that. Now we are trying to figure out where to put them. I can't leave them there. Other than being so thin, they didn't look like they were sickly. One is black and the other a red roan. It would be wonderful if they gaited.

My daughter and I rode the other Appaloosa gelding. The owner has an indoor arena, which was good because it was raining all day. Other then the fact that he is a little green, he is quiet and gentle. I think I will make an offer on him. Now, what to do with all these horses! At least the neighbor will take the goat, so there will be an extra stall. We have room to build two more.

That was my question exactly :)

I would have loved to watch it but I think they were afraid I'd argue - I didn't want him backed until spring even though he is 15.3 he's still got a two year old mind.

The rings are all behind the barn with three sheds and a horse trailer between my back windows and them. :(
