The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Interesting! I guess I've just never thought of rabbits as being aggressive/physical with each other. To me, bunnies were always just cute little fuzzies that kinda just mosey around the yard

I guess you never read "Watership Down" :~D

I've had bunnies showing up under the bird feeders recently. I never thought about putting water down for them. The squirrels can get to the water in the bird bath. As dry as it is around here, the bunnies might appreciate water too.

Hey, check out this horse.

That's a nice looking horse, Frog. Looks a lot like my gray horse.

That's a good web site, too. Thanks.

No, I never have. I've heard the title but don't know what it's about, other than it's got rabbits in it.

It's kindof an "Animal Farm" "1984" type story with rabbits.

A farmer starts setting out all kinds of produce for the rabbits for no apparent reason and all the rabbits get fat and happy... then they start noticing that a few rabbits disappear from time to time... and no one wants anyone to talk about it... :~)

Did you follow the link all the way to their home page?

Sounds like a pretty nice place.

This is the Horseshoe Horse sculpture I was talking about earlier...

It's hard to tell anything about it, but you get the idea.

Sounds like something my English Lit teacher would've had on the Required Reading list. I don't know how I missed having to read it. I'll have to look it up sometime.

I agree. Looks a lot like the place I've been dreaming about for the last, oh, 30 years.

I had no idea they did all that. The overnight cabins and boarding for people traveling with horses is really nice. Did you check out the horses for sale? They had a couple of mares that had Two Eyed Jack in their papers. One of them was 8 and the other was 15 or so. They also had a really cute little 2006 Two-Eyed buckskin colt. Too bad you're looking for an older horse or he'd be just what you want.

Possibly. Things are so up in the air right now I can't say for certain. But a lot can happen in a year, and things should be more stable then. (i.e I'll have a job in which I can request time off from) ;-) But I'd love to be able to come.

I did. Didn't see anything that had my name on it. But they do have some nice animals.

There's a western wear place in Athens called Preston's Western. I've gone there a couple of times and I was planning on going this Saturday after work and that's when I'm gonna check out this farm.

Well maybe you'll have better luck with the other names I gave you.

There's about 3 at the same place that fit your criteria in Georgetown LA but that's a bit far I know...

If you can't find a nice Quarter Horse that suits you, I'll be happy to sell you an appaloosa - and trailer it down to you :)
