The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Bad deal about the whacked shin! Those hurt like the devil. But I love ecurbh's expression. He looks like he's thinking "Now why did she put this goofy-looking bandage on me and then insist on taking my picture?!" LOL!

I think he hit it pretty good... he was using his knee to bump the bale up and hit the corner of the tailgate instead.

He took the cold off it already, it's gonna be both a cut and a welt, wrapped it again so it doesn't swell too much.

Gotta ask you about your tagline. Saw that stuff on TV last nite. So you can put it directly on your forehead but what on earth does it do??

Oh MAN! I'll bet that took his breath away for a while. I don't even like to think about it.

I agree:). I don't like seeing the show horses. Around here they are showing everything like that, breeds and classes, English and WEstern. Really sad.

Palaminos, have never been a favorite color of mine, I like bay's, but Harley turned out to be such a wonderful horse, I decided to keep him. I had orginally bought him to resale, but after having him for a few months, just can't sell him.

I've taken him to 2 CTR's now, and have just been amazed how well he does. I'm hoping he's the last horse I ever have to own:) He's only 6, or 7, so he should make it barring something unforeseen.

He's foundation quarter bred. His bloodlines go back to Harlen.

Hey, I'm very glad your horse was benign that must be a great relief:)

They deaden the tails so they won't carry them... That just slays me, why do they think the deader the better? I think a nicely carried tail is pretty... shows pride and carriage... I don't get it.

I'm a bit excited. My brother came in town so he would be here for my dads thing. He called this morning and asked if Mack and I wanted to have dinner and some drinks tonight. We don't get to visit with him much when he is here, because he spends most of his time with his kids of course. We are in town now at our building. He's meeting us here, we'll sit and visit then take him next door for a burger. Bixbians are proud of Scott's Hamburgers:). I think visiting here will be better then going to Tulsa... I have my camera, so I'll get pictures of him, I think you'll be surprised:) Oh, he lives in Vegas.

LOL, I can imagine:)

If it had been me I swear I'd have passed out. Whenever I bump my knee/shine, out I go...I get sick to my stomach,,,

I really feel for him.

Dan's here, talk to you later:)

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a good one. My sweetie sneaked me a card in my purse before I went to work, so I got a nice surprise later in the day, then he took me out to eat steak that evening. I took the next day off, which was really nice, then I got to ride on Saturday. That's a good enough for me.

Here's a couple of the horses that went on the ride with us. I thought this little filly was really pretty...

And this little stud was really flashy and REALLY tall, even though he was just two. I'll bet he was 16 hands already. He's gonna be a whopper when he grows up!

Now for the trail pics...Heading out with 5 in front of me...

4 behind me...

Going down some big slippery rock...

Looking back up on it from the bottom...

Half of the group at a rest stop in the creek. And yes, I ride with a buncha old farts, but they're nice old farts! ;o)

The other half on the down-stream side...

And one last picture of the walking (or riding) wounded. Poor Melvin got stung on the face so he had the chewing tobacco/duct tape patch on him too. It may look silly, but it works! LOL!

Thanks for the pics :~D

Great group, I'm sure those ole farts are the best riding companions, considerate and safe.

chewing tobacco huh - would cigarette tobacco be good too? This is a new one on me.
