This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I saw a corrective dog trainer on TV once... It might have been that "Good Dog U" on AP, who was dealing with a dog that barked too much, and he said the key was to teach them to bark on command, because then once they knew to speak, you could teach "stop speaking". So they started by getting the dog to bark.
Seemed like a roundabout way to get there, if you ask me. :~)
Ok, I'm out of there. Kill places for irresponsible pet owners ? I don't know why I open those threads. Depressing. I think you and I want pretty much the same though. The difference is you want a government ban and I believe it is none of the governments business and want horse owners to have other options.
Sounds like we don't want the same thing then :~)
Talk like that post about kill places for bad pet owners is just rhetoric... Just like all those who eagerly brag they eat horse all the time, just to be tough. I don't take them seriously. The subject is very depressing for me... but I believe in the argument... so I make it.
No you don't want horses slaughtered. I don't either, esp. after reading what Tuffy posted. We just disagree on how to get there.
I have no power to ban it, but it wouldn't break my heart if it was.
We have a turkey we need to cook before we end up with another one.
Yeah. I usually donate mine to the Salvation Army but people kept giving me more. I date stuff and rotate but not these two. I don't know how long they last but as you say, it's about that time again and I needed room.
We had a turkey at the beach house that had been in the freezer a couple years and needed to GO.
I took it down to the end of the dock and tossed it off for the crabs... The funny thing was, they couldn't make a dent in the frozen thing, and it wouldn't leave. When the tide went out, there it was on the sand.
I didn't want dogs to get it, so I picked it up and hucked it out as far as I could. The next tide, it got pushed back up on the sand a little ways down the beach. I think I had to throw the thing back in several times over the next few days :~)
LOL What are you doing up so late? I had a rough day at work but can't sleep. I'm sitting here eating sun flower seeds and planning what I need to do tomorrow. I was going to the stables at 6 . I'll see. I may be more 10ish:')
I'm all wired, and didn't want to sleep but I'm getting there now. My honey went to bed a couple hours ago.
Yeah. Mine crashes about 10. I do have a lot to do tomorrow though so I'm gonna call it a night. Just think, just a few more months and we can be debating "Christmas" shopping again:') Night
Good night :~)
Hair, your adventure with the turkey, reminds me of Weekend at Bernie's
Good morning...
My horse is massaged, stretched and saddled...trying to get out of here before it gets too hot:)
Becky
Yeah. I'm trying to get my butt to the stables before it gets too hot.
I'm putting my shoes on:') Don't you find it interesting how a lot of people can like riding horses but each one has special interests and talents? Some like to show, some like to compete, some breed. Me, I like the healing side. It seems like each one has "something special to offer.
Absolutely. And I love hearing about other people's equine interests.
Have fun today. Are you gonna get any of that rain down there on the coast?
I was watching that kill thread. Really didn't have much to say, cause you and Cindy said it for me!. :-)
Have a good ride!
