This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I hear you. Ours are in the barn with fans on. At least the electricity came back to put the fans on. Something happened with a power line and it was out for 20 hours, starting at 2:30 yesterday. Ugh!
I'm so sorry to hear about Deuce. But I am glad to hear that most of these growths are benign. I'll be thinking of you, and keep us posted!
"I work with a lot of liquid nitrogen"
Do you make home-made ice cream with it yet?
That's one of my plans. I have to make sure that I have enough in the tank to do what I need to do with it, and then whatever is left will go towards making ice cream. It take five gallons of liquid nitrogen for every one gallon of ice cream
I know that it only takes a few minutes to make but I did not know that it took five gallons of liquid nitrogen.
That's a Wade Corriente saddle on him, it's heavy but I really like it.
Update, I just checked with the person that makes it here and he said about a gallon of liquid nitrogen is all it takes. You may have enough to make five gallons of ice cream.
(Just thinking of your poor horse, when you get aboard) : )
Neighbor's Boer goat kids.
Sam sharing my supper --- or just checking it out. Really doesn't care for anything but chicken. And a little finche at the water garden spout -- you can just barely see it.
Glad Homer is home. Hope he is in good shape.
Happy birthday.
Oh good. Now tell your brother he was wrong or you were right. Homer knows where home is. It's with yall.
RE Homer... A guy was next door at the store, and was sitting there looking at the sign on the bulletin board and Homer walked up!
So he was going to come home on his own.... maybe.
Really! Interesting! While I've never tried it, I've read that it's that ratio on two separate occasions.
Well that's fantastic luck! I'm glad that he made it home safely, and that he didn't wander far.
I need to get my freezer out. I use rock salt though. I might take it out to the stables this weekend. Every one would probably like that.
Twice I have watched someone make one gallon batches. A two gallon size stainless pot was used and the mixture was poured into it and then some liquid nitrogen was put on top. It was almost instant ice cream without all the bother of ice and a hand-crank/electric ice cream maker. Be sure to use correct gloves to protect your hands.
Happy Birthday!!!
I've been curled up in a fetal position at home the last day or so. :)
