The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The trees are just unbelieveable. We were riding on a ridge the was way above a drop off, but put us above level with the middle of the trees that were growing from below. When you looked straight across them there were 100's of them, it almost appeared to look like an optical illusion. All those straight trucks, no branches, it was so cool, but pictures just don't show it well enough to show you all...worth a trip here to see.

You by that tree reminds me of Frog by her rocks.

Great pictures! Glad you're enjoying your visit, Becky!

I meant to stop by and say "hello" this evening, but I think I missed everyone...

Well, we're on vacation so we haven't really set a time, but as early as we can get our butts moving :~)

Sounds good!

Depending on when we get back, I might go out looking at bikes...we'll see though. Most of the shops seem to keep pretty limited hours. Considering how many bicyclists there are here, many of whom I guess eschew cars, I'm a bit perplexed by that. :-\

Well, they also eschew jobs, so they aren't good bike shop customers I guess :~)

I don't know how the greeners get their bikes :~)

Morning. I'm looking at this pile of paperwork and what I need to do around my house today. Yawn. I'm headed to the stables. It will wait for me.

Good morning - this is Hair :~)

I'm up before everyone else, thought I'd post a few more pics from yesterday that Becky didn't post yesterday (at # 1958)

This was at another big tree we were trying to get organized to pose Becky under :~) She's got her camera out too.

Another picture along the way...

One in a clear cut. It's unfortunate that the best exposures are out in the open, in the prettiest spots, it's really too dark and the pictures came out dark or blurry. We'll try to work on that tomorrow :~)

This is a cropped version of the picture already posted, I wanted to zoom in so you could see Becky's face :~)

Another one along the way :~)

Today we intend to go see Mt. St. Helens. ~But~ we've got a morning fog and the mountain is socked in. (Mount St. Helens VolcanoCam) No point getting an early start if the volcano isn't there when we get there, so I think we'll delay till it looks like it's burning off... Just want to make sure it ~is~ going to burn off.

I'm up and ready whenever you - and the mountain - are!

Heh...love Becky's face in that one shot. ;-) It's a really pretty picture of Mia, too. I just love her coloring, even if it isn't altogether practical...

Mia's a really nice mare. And grey's aren't all that impractical, you just have to wash them more often :~)

Grays are actually very practically, (altho, that is not an issue here:), in very hot climates. Light colored horses stay cooler and cool off faster then dark:), Just an FYI.

Looking forward to meeting you.

I'm gathering from the conversation here that the mountain is clearing fast:) Yeah!!!!

Becky

Ah...didn't think about that. Be a good color for an Arab that actually was in Arabia. ;-)
