The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Heh... she was looking tired about then wasn't she? Not the best picture, but the only one I took of her... I guess we focused on the kids today. ecurbh and I are exhausted. Not sure how people entertain kids ~every~ day :~)

I don't know either. I had 3 at a time 24/7 and can't remember any problems. Now after a few hours, I need a nap:')

It's quiet and raining here. Remember those flies I told you about? Today at work, little snails were all over the sidewalk and outside walls. It was crunchy getting in. A guy that I'm training says he is being overwhelmed with fleas, all in his garage. The small criiters don't seem to like all this wet stuff I guess.

Great pictures. I've been wondering which horse you would put the girls on:).

I had to laugh about the picture of Ruthie...all those chairs and she's sitting on the ground:)...she'll make a fine country girl.

I'm looking forward to the cool, and the green, your yard looks beautiful.

Morning :~) Either horse would have been OK for leadline, at first I wished we had saddled Cyn because Bay started out a little squirrely. Cyn can be a lot of things, but never squirrelly. Note I added a stud chain on Bay by the second picture :~) He settled down OK and was fine. I was just surprised because usually when there's a kid on board he plods along like he's afraid to move.

I think so, and there were a few firecrackers around, and a lot of activity.

It's actually drizzling a little bit this morning. I hope that keeps up.

They did have a good time... and I think they headed up for even more excitement and fireworks. Busy day... I honestly don't see how other people have kids every day :~)

Well, you were doing the entertaining. When kids are around all day everyday, you don't do that.

Even now, when I have the boys all day, sometime thru the day, I set them down and say, time for stillness and quiet:).

I suppose so, but they'd want to do something every day... I guess that leads back to your point about choices :~D

Was fun to have them over. And I think they had fun, they didn't want to leave. Course, when they were at the beach house they didn't want to leave there either. They seem to like the move so far :~)

It's OK to tell them NO. And it's OK to expect them to entertain themselves:) I couldn't deal with kids in town, where you have neighborhood kids running in and out all day...Living out like we do, crowd control was easier:)

Well yeah - on a normal day they could just go run the back forty and explore... and eventually saddle their own horse :~)

Kids are a bit much when you aren't used to them. I only had one but the house was always full of friends - I became a very good drill sgt with all the little boys. Now, with my grandson, I'm a little lighter but he still helps me with whatever I'm doing when he's here. I don't spend much time entertaining like you did - that's what exhausts you.
