The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

You can see her daddy in Cyn right away. His head reminds me very much of Sonny's head. Sonny has a heavier jaw and you have to discount the knot on his head between his eyes - that's injury not confirmation. Something about the nose I guess.

I've been worrying about Susie....she just doesn't do well when I'm gone, and I've never been gone for this long. I think she will do better tho, since Mack will be here. In the past when I have been gone overnight, he's always been with me, so I think that will help. But I've still been worrying about her. Jenny was telling me yesterday, that she would miss me as much as Susie does, so I had to call....

Nothing like good old family guilt to start a trip on:) (just teasingTM:)

I can see the resemblance you see in the muzzle :~D

As soon as I saw that picture of her daddy I knew I had the same picture of Cyn, I just had to find it :~D

If he always moves like her, that's not particularly something to brag about in an Arab, since she moves like something of a clod most of the time :~) But since they seem to be most proud of his temperament and feet, I thought they'd like to know that those two features were definately passed on.

No, no pictures of the ride. The lens on my camera is getting more and more fragile. I'm trying to make sure it's partially workable when I come there. I may have to get CD's or something of the pictures you take...I don't know if mine will still take pictures if any of the pieces of the lens comes out, and they are looking like they could. I don't want to do any unnecessairy joggling of it till I have to. My budget won't allow a new camera at this time...not till I get back.

I hope Suzi does OK without ya... ours would worry too, that's why we travel so rarely! At least she's home. Ours are OK at home with someone, worse when we have to take them somewhere else when we travel.

You can call home as much as you like :~)

I can certainly send you home with CDs of all the pics we take. It'd be nice if you could carry a camera too, so we get double the pictures... maybe if you think yours won't hold up, we can borrow one from my dad or brother too.

Susie is the only one I worry about. She frets even when I just go on a ride. She knows as soon as I put my boots on, even I put them on while she is outside, she notices and starts getting that worried look, runs out the door, trying to go with me...Then when I tell her no she has to stay, her tail drops and she walks back up the porch and goes and curls up on the bed:(...it's really very sad. Mack says she does come out after a while. When we went to Vegas a few years back, Charlie and Kristy kept her. They had truck trouble while we were gone and came and borrowed my truck. When Sue saw it coming up their drive Kristy says she came running, jumped in and then was just like, "where is she". After that every night they had to go get her out from under it when it was time for bed.

I've been thinking I may borrow Kristy's or Jenny's. Kristy's is smaller, the size of mine, but Jenny's takes better pictures...

Oh - the heartbreak. Poor thing. It's a hard world for the little things! I hope you don't feel like too much of a heel when you drive off and leave her for a week.

We had a couple extra digitals for awhile, but one quit working, and I had to give the other one back to the friend that gave it to me.

Well, even if I'm the only one taking pictures, we know there'll be a lot of you, and that's what's important. I hate pictures of me anyway :~)

Oh, she'll survive. It just makes you feel bad that you can't make them understand you'll be back...I've just been nagging at Mack that if he stays in town he needs to take her there too. Not to leave her night after night alone. He has to come home to feed anyway. Jenny said she would come up here a few times to play with her. Susie really likes Jenny:), Jenny was still at home when I got her.

Maybe Mack will take her with him because he'll be lonely too, without you :~)

LOL, maybe:).I think the year he and Charlie went to Sturgis, 1998, is the only other time we've been separated this long. He was gone 10 days that time...Course Jenny was here, and Mack had Charlie, so neither of us was "alone". I'm not worried about Mack, but I sort of feel bad leaving him for a week:). But he's OK with it, says he'll miss me, but is glad I'm going to have fun:) He's a pretty good guy:)

It's me. Had to come and feed the baby and hopefully he'll take a nap now. Travis changed my pass word for me so it's the same as everything else.

We've got a yard full of people.

How'd your hair come out?

Cleaned the snake tank and bathed the snakes this morning. I'm making up a flyer to sell them and thought I'd show them off to you all. They are a breeding pair of ball pythons (Monte and Monique) and very gentle.

I'll say! Really! Heh... How much does a breeding pair of pythons sell for? What do you feed them? Or do I want to know?

My son in the Navy would love to have those. I'm not even going to tell him they are for sale.
