The U.S. national team faces a must-win situation Saturday against Italy (2:30 p.m. ET, ABC). The U.S. lineup could see some changes, including adding Eddie Johnson. Czech Republic and Ghana play earlier in the day (11:30 a.m., ABC), while Portugal advanced by beating Iran 2-0.

FIFA made a big mistake with the mandate to the refs to call EVERYTHING. It makes the game pathetic...

No, really - it wasn't intended to be a shot at Germany or Germans at all. Obviously, FIFA staffs the officials internationally. I would draw no conclusions based on that. It just happened that the most pressure-packed international competition in American sports happened to be 1972 Munchen. That's all. I've always enjoyed your company here.
