I didn't kow "Baghdad Bob" moved to Berlin and became a Freeper.
Is there a sports page that isn't going to have "Reality Czech" as the headline for today's game?
The way today went for USA Soccer some Czech dude will be getting that chick out of that flag.
That's nice but El Salvador and Honduras aren't exactly the Netherlands or Romania.
Well he shouldn't have been toking before the game. ;)
I don't think there's anything wrong with starting them out that way. Four year olds need to learn to play and enjoy the game. The parents all tell them who won anyway. (that being said, I think small sided soccer is good for 4 year olds, but by age 8, they should be playing full sides, and we aren't doing that now in our area until U-12)
I think our weakness is that we Americans only play organized soccer, usually within the correct age group, and we're overcoached.
In foreign countries, kids show up on a vacant lot and younger kids have to compete with older ones without any supervision. You live or die on your ability. You get creativity from having to find a way, and you see what the older kids are doing and try to emulate them.
In the US, if there's a sandlot or asphalt pickup game, it's football, basketball, and baseball.
And of course, in the US, everyone thinks the Superbowl is the most important game - it's pretty easy to be the world champions when you're basically the only country in the world that takes the game seriously.
Czech Republic - 3pts (w/ 3 Goals For)
Ghana - 0
Italy -0
USA - 0 (with 3 GA)
Ghana's giving up far too many corners
We need a 0-0 tie.
Luckily our defense is rock solid so far.
Ghana - the team that couldn't shoot straight.
Even so, they look ten times better than the US did today.
Their midfield's very strong, physically. That's why Italy's playing with 3 DMs.
What a strike by Andrea Pirlo. Beautiful. Italy up 1-0
A terrible day, gets even worse for the US.
HT, 1-0 Italia
