The wait finally comes to an end Monday for 11 of the 15 MLS players at the 2006 World Cup as the U.S. national team opens Group E play against Czech Republic in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The Los Angeles Galaxy's Landon Donovan will lead the U.S. team into action starting at 11:55 a.m. ET on ESPN2.
In other action, Australia meets Japan in Kaiserslautern at 8:55 a.m. (ESPN2) for a Group F match. Italy and Ghana clash in the third match of the day, a Group E affair in Hanover at 2:55 p.m. (ESPN2).

Now the US needs to hope the Czechs do the same to Italy, and make it a battle for second in the group.

Well my two favorite teams, the USA and Poland have laid an egg so far, at least the Aussies won.
A tie between Italy and Ghana would also help the US.

I am dissapointed with the American team.
Seemed to lack a bit of fighting spirit. The very attitude that was so impressive four years ago.
It will be really interesting to watch the Italians against Ghana.
It's a three-team race now in the group, that's how the US has to look at it. They just ran into a buzzsaw today.
An absolute clinic. Looked like the Globetrotters vs. the Wash Generals out there.
No kidding. The Czech team did awesome even with two major injuries. We'll see how we do on Saturday.
You just cannot give up a goal in the first five minutes of the match against a team like that.

Beasley is LUGGAGE and a waste of a roster spot. Hasn't had a good touch in months. It's obvious that everything should go through Reyna and Donovan if we're going to have any chance to win.

Definately in the 2nd half. I'll give the US credit, they did press at times in the 1st half. It's just that they have no class finishers.

Let me just note right after the game ended there was a Czech player down on his knees praying. We need to close the prayer gap.
The Czech will have a hard time in their next few games due to the amount of yellow cards and injuries they have. This might help keep the U.S. if we beat Italy and the Czech lose to Italy.

We need the Czechs to win out, we control our destiny against Italy and Ghana, that's all that matters now. The fewer points for those two teams, the better.
Of course, it's moot if the US doesn't play better.
LOL, during the match they showed a beauty with a stars and stripes bikini on, and the English commentator said, "The USA definately have some support"
