Dont pay too much attention to the rankings but there are some good players in the Czech side.
The matchup of the day today will be our man Onyewu "Gooch" Oguchi (6'4", 200 lbs) who will be defending Czech monster Jan Koller (6'8", 220 lbs).
Australia v. Japan LIVE in 10 minutes!!
The two sides have never met at the FIFA World Cup although they did face each other in the semi-finals of the FIFA Confederations Cup Korea/Japan 2001, where Japan were narrow 1-0 winners thanks to Hidetoshi Nakata's pinpoint free-kick. In ten meetings overall, Japan have three victories to their name and Australia four.
Should definately be an interesting matchup
apologies, I mean to say Oguchi "Gooch" Onyewu
And for those interested, Gooch is #22 and the towering Koller wears #9.
Nedved is a legend. Rocicky directs the midfield like a Mozart concerto.
Koller is. Um. Big.
Looking forward to the game.
I believe that the US stands a great chance, I will be cheering them on.
But, first it is time for the Aussies to kick some Japanese butt :-)
Cheers.
The Czech national football team will probably be without Milan Baros today, when they take on the USA in their first game of the 2006 World Cup.
The absence of the 25-year-old striker makes it likely that coach Karel Bruckner will switch from his preferred 4-4-2 formation to his alternative 4-5-1 line-up.
Apart from Baros, the Czech squad have no serious injury problems - Tomas Rosicky and Tomas Galasek will both be available
