Hi Darlin, all. I'm around..and still surviving the packing, etc.

Have been resting a bit since Tues. I had my first court appearance that day, and after climbing the court steps, going thru the metal detector and getting settled in for the "conditioning" and video's, etc, I started to get some Angina pains. I let it go, and finally after all the lessons in good citizenship and videos, we went up three flights to the courtroom for our further selection. The judge informed us that the trial could go on for three weeks, and the defendant was being his own council. Whoopi, fri**in, doo, that just added to my day, let me tell ya.

I began to realize that both Al and I would be tied to this thing almost right up to the day we signed papers. Who was going to pack, clean and do all the things you have to do to clear a house for selling and then get all the other things done to move us.

I guess I got panicky and started in with more chest and arm pains, and I had to make up my mind to face the judge when it came time. I did first thing, and I got off the trial, but I'm still tied up with it all until the middle of Aug. I think I have three more call in dates until it's all over. Hopefully, out of 300 people, my number may not be called again, but there is no guarantee.

There is no way out of it, so poor Al who could be home if I get chosen again, will instead have to spend four hours on the road every day to take me to the capital in Concord and then come and get me again at the end of the day.

I'm a bit depressed about it all, and it's taking the joy of moving right out of me. You know..they could make the cutoff a little lower than 70 years old.. It is a hardship for older people to make that long a trip and for such a long period of time, and I guess we are just on the cusp for distance. The court girls suggestion, stay overnight in a hotel for the duration of any trial. Riiight.. good one, that will fix everything. Three weeks in a hotel would have cured all our woes all right.. sheesh.. Our government at work.

Of course I get paid...lol, and we get our tolls of $2.00 a day back...but somehow that isn't compensating right now for all this aggravation..:(
Anyway, enough b!tchin from me, but that's what's been going on. I just wish I was able to have a Blue Thingy like Libby to calm my nerves...but even a nice stiff drink is no longer on the menu...groaan...:)
