I just installed Xubunto on my bleeding edge computer a night or two ago.

While I'm happy with how it loaded and all that. Xandros was more complete. Xubunto was like loading a blank slate...don't get me wrong, it loaded from cd insertion. But I had to hump many hoops to get it too a compentently usable state.

That sorta goes back to my issues with Linux. Linux isn't ready for end users yet. No distro. Yes, I can make it work. If I give a disk to my FIL, there's no chance in hell he's going to get something usable without lots of hours on the phone. Yes, it's not bloaty, yes, it's lean and mean, but XP works great. I am NOT a windows zealot, but there is NO distro of linux, even Xandros that will load and do what everyone wants. The Linux community can fix that and when they do a 1ghz cpu with 128mb ram becomes a "decent" machine.

I wouldn't use Xubuntu on a bleeding edge computer - it's intended for low-end machines. Try the regular Ubuntu distro.
