Yes. A lot of native Gaels have settled here. Not so much as the Scandihoovians (term is an American joke) who have their own definitive districts (such as "Ballard" in Seattle) -- which tend to be wayoff-the-chart liberal, for good or bad. We have local jokes about them, but whatever, it's all in fun...

A few years ago a Scots Gaelic TeeVee program (BBC, out of Scotland) did a "survey" of the Gaelic Diaspora. One program covered Gaelic in the Pacific Northwest, and many of our class members (as well as our excellent teacher) were featured... speaking Gaelic. Bha e math ga riribh!!

(There are no such things as "fan dances" in Gaeldom, btw.)
