to those religious folks who feel threatened by the da vinci code,
ask yourself one question:
what is more believable - that there was a man named jesus who happened to be married and had a child?...OR, that a man named jesus was immaculately conceived, and walked on water, and turned water into wine, etc........
...the bible is THE biggest piece of fiction of all time, and should have a disclaimer saying so
With a post like this aren't you implicitly admitting that the purpose of the "Da Vinci Code" isn't really mindless FICTIONAL entertainment, but a conscious effort to attack, create doubt about, and/or debunk the Bible, Christianity, Jesus, the Catholic Church, religion in general, etc.??
If you're a devout Christian, the better question is--why wouldn't you feel threatened by a movie like this? Fiction is a powerful tool for propaganda and everyone who says "it's just fiction" can't really deny that.
That said , Brown can write whatever he chooses to and Hollywood can make any kind of movie they want, as far as I'm concerned. But why should they get to be immune from criticism? Why should Christians always have to, as my favorite college basketball coach once suggested to Connie Chung, 'sit back and enjoy it'?
Prove it.
And yet, the most amazing and powerful thing about your denial of God and faith is that God still loves you. His mercy is infinite.
