Any religious system that holds to a "secret" knowledge (Greek gnosis) can be said to be gnostic. In that sense Brown is suggesting that the Priory of Scion, Opus Dei, and be extension the Church is Gnostic. This is an offense to me.

Now before someone tells me to get over it, recall that
documents, rituals, organization, are in has fact list.

The real Gnostics were a warped bunch (IMHO) that would do things like have the high priest engage in intercourse, save the emission and hold communion (sick!)
